The Defense...

Not to throw a bucket of cold water on the celebration of yet another Shula Bowl win, but this D is still a mess and MUST be fixed for next season.  I hope that Coach doesn't look at the fact that we won the last 2 games and decide to stick with the status quo for next year.  All of the same issues we had against Troy, UAB, MTSU, and Wyoming were all still on full display the last 2 weeks.  The only difference is that we were facing 2 of the worst offenses in the nation in WKU and FIU.  Those 2 teams finished the year tied for 100th in the nation in total offense.  FIU averaged 322 yards per game.  We allowed them 445.  IMO, a change in the coaching staff is required.  Inexperience is not an acceptable excuse.  In 2007 we were 82nd, in 2008, with a team full of seniors, we got worse and finished 92nd.  Now we are 112th.  This unit needs a new leader.

Our offense finished 22nd in the country.  Our RB lead the Sun Belt in rushing and JVC stepped in for Rusty and played extremely well.  With even an average D, we are finishing up our best season ever and heading to a 3rd straight bowl.  This isn't a one year problem.  They have to address it and now.

Re: The Defense...

Without question, the defensive problems will have to be addressed.

I do think that Hoza has felt the pressure of the ineptitudes of our defensive woes of the season and clearly something will have to change or status quo will take hold.  What type of changes we will occur, we will see.

I agree…and will add…not only were the last 2 wins against 2 of the worst teams in the country, but all 5 of our wins were against 5 of the worst teams in the country.  We could be in the bottom 10 and still get 5 wins every year.  Not good enough.  Changes need to be announced in the coming week or so.

Re: The Defense...

The D and Special Teams have been a problem that has continuely had the team digging themselves out of holes. Nobody wants someone to loose a job but how much longer can this go on. Address this problem and it is a problem and lets get this show on the road.
