Re: The New Deal

The New Deal

Ha ha because Pompano is 2000 seats and FAU stadium is 30k! That band is a club tour, they're not selling out stadiums.

Of that list above, Jay Z might be able to hit the 30k mark. Blink, at their peak was pulling 15k to a show, which is unreal for a pop punk band but not worthy of a stadium rock show, and they're not gonna do that now.

My money on a big seller there, for the economics of it, Taylor Swift. Anyone that sells out Cruzan and there are still people that want tickets, that's who we want. Dave Mathews or any of the big country acts that seem to be massive nowadays, bands like that

+1 to Team's response…

Is Blink182 that popular?

The only one I "know" has this in it:

"Nah, nah, nah…nah, nah, nah…nah, nah, nah…nah, nah, nah…nah, nah, nah, nah…"

;D

Although they would likely section off anything that came in…

They are that big, and everyone is willing to listen to them, especially the concert going crowd (rich white kids).

As for Jay Z, he sells out everywhere he goes.

And a country band would not do so well unless it was well marketed, which we are bad at. People do not follow country bands around the way they follow punk rock bands. I don't like punk rock, I'm more of a Jay-Z kind of guy, just stating the "truth."

Re: The New Deal

As much as Jay Z would be a huge draw, I don't see a chance in hell bringing him to our campus stadium.

Why not?

It will sell out, he will make money. Why wouldn't he want to come here?

Fact Checker….

On January 14, 2006, O.A.R. reached a new peak of popularity by drawing roughly 18,000 fans and selling out New York City's Madison Square Garden, which earned them a review in the New York Times.[1] On October 5, 2006, a press release declared that O.A.R. had officially sold in excess of 1.2 million albums over their career.[2] The band attributes much of its popularity to the recording and subsequent trading and downloading of their live shows.

Re: The New Deal

As we saw with our first ever football game you learn from experience.  I think a modest band or two to start and get the kinks out before a show like Jay Z or DMB comes to town would be smart.

First, Taylor Swift is country and sells out plenty.  Kenny Chesney has been selling out football stadiums across the country…the guy sold out Tennesse's stadium at over 100,000!

Other crazy facts about 2011 and touring:

Take That
The first tour since 1995 to feature all five original members, the British pop group sold out 29 shows, most in stadiums, grossing $185 million.

Eagles
The Long Road Out of Eden tour got a little longer in 2011, as the Eagles played 24 concerts that grossed $50 million.

NKOTBSB
The combined power and multi-generational appeal of boy bands New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys turned into big sales as the tour's 51 shows grossed $40 million.

And my personal favorite…lol

Iron Maiden
The British heavy metal band's Final Frontier world tour had more than 100 dates scheduled, 33 of them in 2011, grossing around $1 million per show.
