Not deflecting anything. This year's team is far more like the team from last year than like the team that won the national championship. I am referring to the players on the roster. Therefore, mentioning the national championship team really is irrelevant in this discussion.

Texas 4 MNC's, 3rd in alltime wins… currently has the longest 10+ game winning streak in the nation.

FAU  41 wins to 42 losses.   Zero wins against ranked opponents….

History is always going to favor the team that has been around longer.

Here is some FAU history in only 7 years of football.

Fastest team to beat a ranked opponent (1-AA second game in program history).

Fastest team to move from 1-AA to 1-A and beat a 1-A team (Hawaii in FAU's transitional year).

Fastest team to make it to a bowl game.

Fastest team to win a bowl game.

Not necessarily comparable to the storied history of Texas, but hey we hear the same thing from all opponents.

For only 7 years of football FAU has done quite a bit.

All you people are the same and I have the question whether it be you or Michigan State or Minnesota… What was your overall record after your first 7 years in existance?

You guys know NOTHING about our program so all you do is insult Howard. You can't think of anything else so you go after the coach, Howard has forgotten more about football then Mack Brown will ever know.

Anytime someone makes a point or responds to you, you refer to beating up Arizona last season in your bowl game. That's why they play the games because anyone can win. If the higher seed was supposed to win every bowl game someone forgot to tell that Michigan and Oregon. USF was a better team then Texas last season and they got annihilated in their bowl game. Look at Florida, you're telling me you're a better team then UF? I don't think so and they got beat by Michigan in their bowl game. So from what you are saying you are a better team then everyone who lost their bowl games last season?

I am only messing around because this is a smack thread.  Yes FAU has no history, but has made some nice strides along with other Florida school lately.  FWIW, I am originally from down there, my sister is currently attending FAU.  I heard the usual smack talk about Texas (if you archive search Hornfans.com you will find predictions the day after the NC game on how people will move on to 'cant win a big game without VY'….) and I figured correctly (?) what the typical smack talk is about FAU.    All in all, I hope Texas beats the snot out of FAU.  I also know this is not an automatic win.

I grew up in S. Florida, my sister attends FAU, several friends of mine have gone there as well.  I used to race cars down Jog and Green road.  So don't pretend that because I went to UTexas that I don't know my way around Florida or a little bit about FAU sports.

Actually I brought up the AZ State game because it was our LAST game, and it was in response to the 'cant win a big game' moronic statement.  You have a chance… I just think it is a pretty slim one.  Just like every other school that Texas plays… they all think they are going to be the underdog to win.  They think they are going to shock us…  they look at the team on paper, salivate at these reports… and then get their hopes up… and then they lose.

Additionally,  I never made a claim about UT vs Florida.  But vicariously living through another school is rather pathetic

FWIW I think it's totally relevant and an excellent argument.  ;D Texas is obviously better, they're record in the first 7 says so. But what happened in 1893??? Was there an influenza breakout or something? I'd be one pissed season ticket holder after only 4 games especially with two against lowly San Antonio, everyone knows they sucked the whole 19th century.

You keep bringing up bowl games which happen on neutral fields and say "anything can happen". FAU isn't playing Texas on a neutral field. You are playing in Austin in our newly expanded stadium (5th largest in the country now, I think) on the same night that Vince is getting his # retired……and after your coach talked some intense trash. Could Michigan beat UF in the Swamp? No. Can FAU beat Texas in Austin? No.
