You keep bringing up bowl games which happen on neutral fields and say "anything can happen". FAU isn't playing Texas on a neutral field. You are playing in Austin in our newly expanded stadium (5th largest in the country now, I think) on the same night that Vince is getting his # retired……and after your coach talked some intense trash. Could Michigan beat UF in the Swamp? No. Can FAU beat Texas in Austin? No.

Using the logic displayed in the last few posts, App State should have been run out of town on a rail in Michigan last season.

Michigan beat UF in Orlando…pretty much a home game for UF…and beat them BADLY.  Michigan was a much more talented team than UF and would have beat them by 20-30 points if not for 3 lost fumbles inside UF's 5 yard line.  The game wasn't even a contest.

Not even close…..but Chiles is very close as an open field runner. That is the level of talent we are talking about here.

That would be a solid moral victory for FAU.

Since recent history seems to matter most around here…….Mack has won his last 4 bowls (2 were BCS bowls), a recent national title, 2 of the last 3 against OU on a neutral field…….also, every game Texas plays is a "Big Game" to its opponent. Texas is everyone's superbowl. Mack's long string of double digit win seasons under those conditions is amazing.

Lightyears of difference between playing in front of a bowl crowd in Orlando & the home crowd at the Swamp.

I am only messing around because this is a smack thread.  Yes FAU has no history, but has made some nice strides along with other Florida school lately.  FWIW, I am originally from down there, my sister is currently attending FAU.   I heard the usual smack talk about Texas (if you archive search Hornfans.com you will find predictions the day after the NC game on how people will move on to 'cant win a big game without VY'….) and I figured correctly (?) what the typical smack talk is about FAU.     All in all, I hope Texas beats the snot out of FAU.  I also know this is not an automatic win.

It is all in good fun. The funny thing is that all of our opponents only have two things on FAU 1) No history and 2) Schnellenberger is an old has been.

The arguments tend to lose their originality when it is the same thing virtually every week.

Teams Mack has beaten this decade:

Ohio State, OU, LSU (w/ Saban), USC, Az State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Arkansas, Michigan.  Oh wait those weren't big games, we won them.

If youth and experience meant everthing, Tiger Woods would not be where he is at either. So using that analogy, good luck Texas, because you are about to run into the Tiger Woods of college football… ;D

If the past were really all that important teams would be scared to death of Nebraska and Miami. The way it is now those two programs are very beatable. They were great, now they are just average. It isn't about what you did yesterday, it is about what you are doing today.
