We dont have $40k in the athletics budget for Uni's? Hows is that possible?
If I had to hazard a guess Im sure there is an amount budgeted for Uni's, I imagine they have to replace worn out ones, and update for new players. Now the article/discussion did not say that we are NOT getting new Uni's unless we get 40K. It seems to me to be that they are putting it out there that they could use some help in getting there.
I'm sure a athletic budget is not easy to breakdown.
We have to face facts. Right now FAU is on a shoestring budget due to many factors, including 3 losing season in a row, stadium debt, and general Alumni donor apathy. Winning solves a lot of these problems but we are 2-3 years out IMHO from putting together something "special" in that department.
There is ONE thing we can directly control as fans, that is contributing to the Owl Club.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

There's not much Adidas FAU gear out there for us to buy.
You are correct. It is the chicken or the egg scenario. What comes first, growth of the fan base or stuff for the fan base to buy?
When you talk about Adidas and Nike gear, you are talking about businesses that have to hold a lot of inventory and Hope and Pray the fan base responds.
The real issue is not the current fan base, the real issue is that the current fan base is very small compared to the more established programs.
Things are changing out there for the better and will continue.

I know other schools have booster clubs. Many of them do various fund raising events. For example at Old Miss you can pay $$$ and go to a great booster club "tailgate" party, if you can even call it a tailgate party, they have a tent, tables, Large Screen T.V. playing the other games, great food, and a keg… They sell out before every game and must have over 100 people in there… The same group does car washes and other fund raising events… We have a forum for organization, maybe we could start doing Fun Fund Raisers during the season.
Havent' read the rest of the thread so excuse me if this has been addressed already. The above description is what The Owl Club is for, they are the official booster group of FAU Athletics.

I know this isn't technically "uniform" related but I think it just reflects the current state of our program. And I just wanted to vent…

Eventually the school and the fanbase will grow large enough to sustain it. Likely it's cyclical. Should Pelini really deliver the way people hope him to, you'll be seeing a lot more FAU stuff around.

We need to get FAU Owl gear into the local Cracker Barrels… I ALWAYS see abundant Florida State, UF, and Miami stuff there, two of which are HOURS away, but nothing of the local school that is a few miles away… this is a disgrace! Pisses me off every time. :-\
That's because FSU, UF, and UM appeal to lots of people (including vacationing tourists). FAU appeals to a very niche market. There are minimums that have to be purchased by businesses (typically 48 pieces of the same design). So they would have one FAU shirt on the shelf and 48 in inventory. How many shirts will they sell, 4? They have a good to great chance of selling those other schools. It's a business.
