The QB position

Post

I think this will determine what kind of season the owls will have. De'andre is very capable of putting up big numbers. I think it will lead to many wins this season. Just need a decent defense.

The talent's there in defense. We saw that a couple of years ago.

This class will push the starters everyday at practice, especially the JuCo guys. It will be hard to replace Trey Hendrickson, but I have confidence in coordinator Kiffin.

The offense, including BOTH DeAndre's will only go as far as the O-line will let them.

De'Andre J. has a lot of weapons offensively. Our receiver corp just got a lot better. We have a revamped offensive line that he and our RBs will benefit from.

Not to derail this thread, because it is about the QB position but does anyone remember Daniel McKinney?

Guy was what I would consider a notch above in speed and ability at the WR spot compared to what we usually are able to sign…fast forward to now, and we seem to have gotten not one, but TWO guys similar to him in D'Anfernee McGriff and DeAndre McNeal. Although they are a bit more "physical" in their styles - can runs guys over after catch.

And let's not forget we also welcome in A.J. Turman at the RB spot to accompany Singletary and Howell.

The offense should be quite potent next season.

We definitely have the talent. Now let's see what coaching can do with it on both sides of the ball.

So long as we have a capable O Line, watch out. The QB, RB and WR positions are all high level D1 – we are talking SEC, ACC level talent on offense if these guys pan out. We forget about Turman, but he was a very highly rated RB out of high school going to UGA and has SEC experience. McNeal and McGriff were beasts coming out of HS and we all know about DeAndre. Heck so was Tyrek Tisdale who signed with the Gators initially. The running game and passing game could be absolutely amazing. But of course, this is all on paper right now.

It's always about the trenches, especially when it comes to offense. I really couldn't be more excited to see what we'll look like this year. Counting the days until spring practice starts.

I am old school about football. Given a very good O line, an average QB will look above average. Given a poor O line, a very good QB will look below average. On D, the line must eat up blockers to give the LB's and backs running room. The game starts and finishes on the lines. No where near the credit goes to the big uglys.
