What does a graduate assistant do?

This article offers some insight.
Thanks, long hours plus graduate school.

Do you know what his plan is, the little I have read about him since graduating was that he had a good job and had started a family.  He must have saved alot of money to move his family and become a graduate assistant and go to grad school.

GO OWLS!

I thought he mentioned a while back he wanted to get into coaching - so it makes sense for him to grap this opportunity.

Re: The return of Jared Allen

When Jared was on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two years on the practice squad and NFL Europe, he made close to 90K a year. I am sure he put some of that money aside before he started to go to graduate school.

Re: The return of Jared Allen

if I remember, he'd landed a job as a med/pharma rep up in OK after ball too, they make decent scratch, so I don't think we'll need to start taking collections for him!

After a few years hitting the road as a salesman, I'm sure the dream of being a coach gets stronger and stronger, thats a lot of time in the car to think about how much you hate your job! You only live once, I applaud him for going after it and am really glad to have him back.

I think it will be awesome to have him on our sidelines this year... he will be a great inspiration for Rusty in his final year...

Re: The return of Jared Allen

Not trying to sound like a giant Ahole here but how is Jared going to be a motivational or leader to Rusty and the other QB's?

I think Jared was a GREAT QB for FAU, especially in our formative years but I dont really see what he can bring to the table to improve the QB's and show them what it takes to make it to the next level. Thats what Brohm is bringing to the owls.

Im thrilled hes back as I love to see programs helping thier former student athletes if they desire that carrer path. But to say that hes going to improve the team seems a bit far fetched.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

I think you raise a good point of discussion owlfamily…

IMO, while he is not calling plays, or directly making decisions, he does offer some great tangibles:

He's postive energy for the guys to feed on…he truly cares about FAU…he's in the record books…he will work tirelessly to help the program…he will study film until the wee hours of the night looking for loopholes to beat defenses.

And he was a pretty darn good QB on top of that…

I agree with this, and if that is his role on the team then he will do a fantastic job.

I do not know what the job desciption of GA is so I may of misunderstood what his role was going to be.

Re: The return of Jared Allen

the guy played pro football, started the "super bowl" of NFL europe and has been one of the most successful FAU players after the college game. Granted he didn't have a storied career in the NFL, but none of our guys have, keep it in perspective. It's not like we've got Garret Jahn coming back to help out.

Rusty has never been there, so I sure think he'd respect what Jared has to say.
