The state of our program

I think Howard should stay on as a consultant, but we need a new head coach for 2011.

Also, it's time to start thinking about starters for 2011, and start giving them playing time NOW!

It's not happening…he will coach next year, act of God being the only forbearer.

Re: The state of our program

We have a bye week to rest and get better, and that includes the coaches. How about coming up with some new wrinkles once in a while to surprise the other team and keep them off balance and confused and guessing. What a freaking novel idea!!!!!!!!!

And I agree that we play a few freshman at times, VERY FEW!!! Major programs are starting a few freshman and playing a lot more (some major programs are in double digits already!), getting them game experience, not practice squad crap. If a recruit is good enough for D1 football, he should be able to handle Belt league action, or he should not be recruited at all. Bottom line is still, no GOOD recruit will sit for a year at FAU, EVER! And the examples you give make our recruiting look just plain awful, which the past few years show to be the case!

We have many good young receivers sitting, PLAY THEM NOW or we will be in a worse situation next year.

Re: The state of our program

I think that at this point, we need to look deeper into our roster and start playing some other players.  I don't see a bowl in our future this year short of a miracle, so lets try so new players and new plays.  Someone mentioned some wildcat or fake punts, I agree.  Since we don't have the size, I'd like to see us take the Spurrier USC approach and try some "gimmick" plays.  It's not traditional football, but we aren't winning games with our conventional, 2 page playbook.  I'm still supporting the coach at this point and believe that he has a right to coach in our new stadium.  I think we could have the talent, we just need to find a different way to use it.  We can pretty much cancel all dreams of a conference championship, so lets take the kid gloves off, and go for the win on every down!

Re: The state of our program

People like Boise State because they're fun to watch and they win! They don't just sit back and continue to do the same thing on offense even though its clearly not working

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: The state of our program

maybe its time for the coaching staff to start recruiting. Usually, Coach worries about it at the end of the season, but at this point, we need to start a little earlier than usual.
