the fact is we didn't do anything this year. I love this school as much as the next guy but we beat a ULL when they were banged up and hurt, we got super lucky vs ULM with the touchdown pass at the end of the game. WKU was even a fight. so who did we beat? north texas? UAB? come on. the whole season sucked. we got on a high with a four game win streak and blew it this weekend. the season end soon enough. the only thing i really care about right now is the younger guys getting some time vs. FIU to get them ready for next year and monroe getting eligible.
what about beating FIU for pride. If letting younger guys play will translate into a W; let's do it.
I just believe the seniors should be the ones taking care of the last game.

You don't use the FIU game to play the young guys unless the game is out of hand like it was last season. It is very important to beat FIU. For one thing it means continuing to dominant the series and keeping the Shula Bowl trophy in Boca. Plus, beating FIU is always fun and it is another 365 days of bragging rights. And it is they need to win to send the seniors out the right way.
Also, to start the season 1-5 and finish up at 6-6 and bowl eligible would still be a great accomplishment. It would show that this team didn't give up when it would have been easy to do so.

Notice the PapaJohn's.com bowl matchup - that would be pretty cool. Either the guys over at the site don't even know that FAU lost, or they think that a 6 win FAU could actually get invited to that bowl. Probably the former…

Oh man… Schnelly vs. the Wannstache. Almost makes me wish it would happen. Almost.
(And no, those are the current projections.)

Not that I think these boys deserve what's happened to them (I blame the coaches for losing control this season and getting cocky, an attitude that trickled down to the players), to say that the team that beat you is less talented or not as good is a contradiction. If they beat you, they're better than you. If they beat teams you lost to, they're better than you. Potential means nothing if it doesn't translate in actions. FAU had less usable talent this year than the teams they lost to. Painful truth, but truth none the less.
Are you kidding? Coaches getting cocky is why we are where we are? You can question play calling in spots, but cockiness? What proof is there that the coaches had a cocky attitude "that trickled down to the players"? We are 5-6 right now because of players not getting the job done early in the season. Coaching is way down on my list of blame for this season. I'd say dropped passes, the loss of Harmon, injuries to the defensive line, too many penalties, a completed hail mary pass, and plain bad luck all have had a greater effect on our season then the coaching staff's collective attitude.
Nope, I meant what I said. Of course, I also said the coaches lost control of the team. Don't leave that part out, as it's a much bigger part of the problem than coaches shooting their mouths too much, which hurt the moral of the fans and the team when they couldn't deliver. The coach's attitude affects the team. You should know that. There's no such thing as bad luck on a football field. You're either playing better than the other team or you're not. A lot of the penalties and stupid mistakes came from coaches losing control and letting players get out of control. There was a real lack of coherency in the team early in the season. You could see it in the frustration of the players. Coaches didn't know how to contain that and rather than building the team up let them fall further. There were a few other issues, but they paled in comparison to the problems the coaches let happen.

You are not referring to HS are you? You cant possibly think a guy that has won national championships and been on the undefeated Dolphins staff was cocky due to an 8-5 season in which we stilll lost a few games by 40 points…you must be referring to other coaches on the FAU staff?

man that sucked all around.
1. asu has played like crap lately and we played down to there level.
2. were still playing like boys, men can play in all types of weather. we couldn't perform in the rain or the cold.
3. i lost a ton of money, i thought this was the lock of the century.
That game was a perfect example of why I don't bet on my teams anymore.
GO OWLS!
