Ticket Prices

I haven't been on campus but will be on Thursday - as I am flying in for the prOWLer induction ceremony.

Anyway, I have heard nothing but good things about the buzz on campus. Blogger "owlcountry" apparantly made some posters/signs and passed them out to people with clippings from the newspaper headlines that read 'bowl bound' or something like that. That's creating a buzz!

I made four banners in SGA today and they were/are going to be distributed by members of Student Alumni Board (SAB). I want to make more banners but they may think four is enough.

The ones that were made said things like

"FAU FOOTBALL 2007 SUN BELT CHAMPIONS. JOIN US IN NEW ORLEANS DEC.21st. See fausports.com for details."

and "FAU FOOTBALL 2007 SUN BELT CHAMPIONS 'We're goin' bowlin'!"

Also, I brought clippings from Sunday's Sun-Sentinel which, if you didn't see, had FAU's victory not only on the FRONT PAGE but also the front page of the Sports section. We took those clips and printed them up to put up around campus. We want everyone to know that we won.

Also, SAB is buying the red and blue beads to give out. We also discussed the possibility of chalking up the sidewalk and putting up red and blue balloons.

We're hitting this pretty full-force. Whether it translates into bowl interest is yet to be seen.

SGA is working on a bus deal for students. They're looking at taking 112 students, arriving Thursday night and leaving Saturday afternoon. The cost per student would be $50, with a $100 refundable deposit. Again, this is all tentative but I know people were working on it all day today.

For those of you students or anyone at the school today…What was the buzz like around campus today?  Hopefully everyone is fired up about Owls football.

I saw a lot of people wearing FAU gear, but I don't know if it was because of the win. In my lab everyone was talking about the win and trying to figure out how to get to NO – even people who haven't been to a game all season! I was really surprised at the excitement, but that's just in my little corner of FAU.

All promotion needs to be done NOW since once exams start students will quickly disappear and campus will be empty. FAU is not used to planning to attend a bowl game.

It is my understanding that the $40 tickets are the FAU TICKETS given to them by the N.O. Bowl. If you purchase THOSE tickets through the FAU TICKET OFFICE ONLY, FAU receives the profit for those tickets. If you buy any other tickets, or any ticket from a different outlet (tickets, etc.) FAU receives ZERO profit.

Also if you buy tickets from another outlet you might just find yourself sitting in the middle of a bunch of tigers.

Support FAU and buy tickets only from the FAU TICKET OFFICE!!!!

GO OWLS!!!

Great point Owlfan, thanks for mentioning that.
I have a question related; I'm desperately trying to get up to the game, but have a schedule conflicts all over the place. I'm still going to buy my tickets, just in case I can work it all out. Here's my question; Does buying the tickets, even if you can't make the trip, help the cause at all? Please don't misunderstand this…WE NEED TO BE THERE…but if you can't, does it help the program to purchase the tickets?

Re: Ticket Prices

If proceeds go to FAU then buying tickets would help even if you can't make the game. I hope you can make it.

Re: Ticket Prices

Of course it helps to buy a ticket!  I thought about buying one and giving it away to someone who could use it since I won't make it.

I think we are going to have a good turnout for that reason, its New Orleans, i have some friends that haven't been to any games this year and like 5 total in our history and they are going to New Orleans. The band wagon has arrived and its filling up, i love it, the more the Merrier.. I just hope some of those fans start going to the regular season games, buy season tickets, go to the alumni events, and give a little cash…

Re: Ticket Prices

Keep in mind that a large portion of your payout is the tickets the bowl game gives you to sell.  The less tickets you sell the less your payout.  It is important to sell your tickets as that is your schools payout.

Re: Ticket Prices

Buying tickets = proceeds for FAU. Although think of it this way…..you could be taking a seat away from someone who IS GOING and needs a ticket.

This AMAZING contribution y'all are going to make might need to hold off until 10 minutes before they stop selling tickets. Know what I mean?

Smitty, let's be a little realistic here… The Super dome holds 70,000 people.  I don't think we'd be taking a seat away from anyone.  If FAU needs more tickets, I'm sure that's a request they'd LOVE to make

Re: Ticket Prices

Any idea how many tickets FAU received?? I imagine somewhere in the realm of 4,000-5,000. I could be wrong though.
