Ticket Prices
On hutton's blog, he made an interesting point about the ticket sales. If we can sell all of our 5100 tickets alloted ($40 tix from the school), it could help make us look more attractive for future bowl games as possible at-large position since we would have a record of selling all of our tickets (Bowls seem to like that)
Well, then plan to buy many more than 5,000 tickets!
One of the B.S. reasons being bandied about as to why Troy did not get a bowl game is bowl attendance. Some people insist that Troy only sold 8,000 tickets to last year's New Orleans Bowl. In reality, there were 12,000 to 14,000 Troy fans there (half the number at the game), so where they got their tickets, I do not know.
But even that number obviously did not impress anyone.
Then again, it was mentioned on Alabama radio stations yesterday that 'Bama is unlikely to sell its 8,000-ticket allotment to the Independence Bowl.
So, there truly is an unfair and biased playing field when it comes to bowl decisions.

Just read today that tickets won't be mailed until the 14th. That makes me worry a bit. It could be a close call for people leaving a few days early for the game. I really figured that tickets would be mailed at the time of purchase but since they are giving the best seats to donors and season ticket holders they are waiting to mail all tickets until the 14th. I am going to give a call tomorrow to find out what the deal is.
GO OWLS!!!
Why not just do the "Will Call" thing, because at least you don't have to worry about the tix not arriving on time.
Don't know if I can change it now. I didn't think it would be an issue when ordering them. I guess I will find out when I call tomorrow.

Of course there is. We have to remember that it isn't just about tickets sold. It is about the television audience as well. The more people that watch on TV, the more money will be spent on advertising, etc. It is all about $$$ and for most people a team from the SBC doesn't equal $$$ for anyone involved. As for Alabama, more people are likely to watch a game with them playing than with Troy playing regardless of attendance. That is just the nature of the beast. That is why even during the regular season SEC games are all over the TV even if they are games like Alabama vs. Vanderbilt and SBC games are hard to come by on a Saturday unless you have ESPNGameplan.

Re: Ticket Prices
Now, I do think that it is VERY important for FAU to sell-out it allocated tickets for the NO Bowl game, and would mark another great acomplishment for the program if we can travel that many for the bowl game & yes New Orleans tend to be a great destination to be able to do that, the only draw back, timing with the holidays, yet, it is our FIRST Bowl game marking a major acheivement for the program, and we need to find a way to show support not only the team, players, coaches, but the University. We always talk about lack of funds, this are the times to show support when it matters the most, like Bmarkey mentioned it could effect invites to future bowls.

I was told we were visitors… but hoping for home.
It doesn't really matter, because when the game is over FAU IS GOING TO OWN THE PLACE!!!

For those of you students or anyone at the school today…What was the buzz like around campus today? Hopefully everyone is fired up about Owls football.
I saw a lot of people wearing FAU gear, but I don't know if it was because of the win. In my lab everyone was talking about the win and trying to figure out how to get to NO – even people who haven't been to a game all season! I was really surprised at the excitement, but that's just in my little corner of FAU.
All promotion needs to be done NOW since once exams start students will quickly disappear and campus will be empty. FAU is not used to planning to attend a bowl game.
I just posted this in the NOB planning thread. I just purchased 2 tickets. FAU will donate them. I can't make it to the game. My goal was to help FAU get rid of the tickets. The more tickets FAU sells, the better for future bowl bids.
