Ticket Scalping for the UM@FAU game

Post

I'm guessing around 10k UM fans. No way 15k (You can't get that many of your Miami Dade CC dropout fan base to show up to a home game).
That fact you banking in the worst coach in the country to save you is jut sad.
I'm noting saying we are going to win I am saying UM is going 5-7 this year.

O and please hire Buch Davis so you can go 16-18 in the ACC like he did at UNC.

Well I guess we'll see on game day. There are a lot of casual fans that are going, many of whom are local alums. There are around 70,000 alumni in the South Florida metropolitan area and lots of those people are hard-core Canes fans. I'd say 80-90% of those graduating each year are at least casual fans who will go to games. And are you saying that those people who either can't afford to attend Miami or just can't get in shouldn't be fans? That's very silly to say. In my opinion, if you haven't attended a university with a FBS (or even FCS) program you can choose whoever you follow and no one should be going around criticizing you for it since you have no ties to any programs. Like what you want to like. These people may get a bad name, but honestly it's up to the programs to "recruit" these average Joe fans from the street.

And let me say this too – Al Golden is definitely not the worst coach in the country. I know there is bias from your FAU fandom but let's be honest, all you really need to do is look at Kansas or Vanderbilt (I am from TN – I know just how horrible Derek Mason has been for the Candy Dorks) for a terrible coach. I'm not saying he's not bad, which I think he totally has been, but he's done good things in the past and fans (and hopefully the administration) have made this season really his last chance to either compete for the Coastal crown or get out of dodge. Butch Davis would be an upgrade, don't forget he went 51-20 and 33-9 in conference at Miami all accusations of this and that aside. One step at a time tho – if he has a great year, okay good, but if not, gotta look at all options.

As a Miami fan, I hope I can shed some insider light into how we perceive our team's progress this year and our upcoming match-up. Brad Kaaya is a star player, it's true, and he played phenomenally for most of the year last year. We had somewhat of a collapse late in the season escalated by the collapse against FSU, but a lot of that was a nasty combo of injuries and horrible coaching decisions. I hope Al Golden has learned from his mistakes in coaching - but we'll see. Kaaya most definitely isn't the only player on the team. We have a very talented WR corps as well as a highly-rated RB group led by Joe Yearby, who played as Duke Johnson's prime backup - obviously didn't see as much playing time, but still played well when he did. He's very quick. Our D should be much improved as well, a big change from last year's Swiss cheese style of defense. A lot of our success, I've found, really depends on whether our coaching staff is dumb as rocks (no change-up of plays, easy-to-read, terrible defense playcalling, etc.) or actually using their brains (unique plays, using advantages, etc.).

As some of you alluded to here and in other threads, Miami fans have been buying season tickets as well as other scalping-type deals for lots of tickets. I expect that will continue on game-day with lots of folks showing up at the gate. With that said, I know for a fact we will have several thousand fans at the stadium – I'd guess more than 10,000 will be Canes fans, likely upwards of 15,000 – lots of folks up in the Boca area around Broward and Palm Beach counties don't go to Canes games that often so it will be a big draw for those fans. Our student allotment has been shriveling up fairly quickly and I guess lots of students will also be going to buy tickets just off the market. The band is coming (I'm going to be there as a part of it! Go BOTH!) and that will be a nice addition for the atmosphere. Transition to mostly brass has made the band a lot louder this year, which is cool. Hope it's a good game, injury-free… Go Canes!

You figured that out?

Kidding aside he does know his college football, his delivery sucks but I do agree with him that there won't be 15K.  My guess is around 10.  I know of someone that runs charters and tried to put a Miami bus together and there wasn't enough interest and sold his ticket allotment online.

Welcome to the board and thanks for your input.

BTW..I was at the FSU game last year surrounded by the worst Miami fans I have every had to be around and man was that second half fun!  Go Noles!

GO OWLS!

Note, I (RobHurricane) was not the one to comment that, tho I do think we will have more than 10,000 there. May have run into trouble b/c of how close the game is, not sure. I know there are lots of buses coming up from CG. It will be a great one. P.S. – That is my experience everytime I have ever been to Tallahassee. They are always the worst up there.
