Re: Tightends?

Our TE's are more like tall wr's anyhow, should have been used as such with our "weak" wr's last year IMHO!

Re: Tightends?

Imo Alex Deleon would be a great outside threat he's a big body at 6'4 220 and from what i hear has the best set of hands of all of our Receivers with exceptional speed for a big guy 4.6 im not an expert but everyone saying we have no one that looks like a d-1 player needs to take a serious look at this guy ive seen him in person and he dwarfs me, i just feel every position should be wide open this spring coming off a 1-11 season, he kind of reminds me of Harmon and Housler to big for CB's and to fast for LB's but didnt get a chance because Snelly was old school so the upperclassmen got the nod over pure talent idk im just ready for any change that will get us back to the top of the SBC

Yup, after an abyssmal season like 2011, all positions s/b wide open.  Everyone has to earn their spot.

+1

And Coach Pelini has said that EVERYTHING will be looked at. So I think its safe to assume that no position is safe. Lets see what some good ole fashioned competition brings out in the players.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Re: Tightends?

I'm not so sure that tightends will be completely eliminated from the offense rather change rolls. At Montana State Brain White used them frequently as blockers and some times as pass catchers.

This was a play from the playoffs this past season and you will see 2 tight-ends to the bottom of the screen.

Another formation, this time one tightend is motioned in front of the running back to spring a block.

All together Montana State's tightends combined for 23 receptions, 273 yards and 5 touchdowns. Nexon Dorvilus and Alex Deleon would both have to bulk up a little bit (Deleon more than Nexon) for a more blocking type role, but I have no doubts that they wouldn't be able to adapt.

Re: Tightends?

Speaking of RB's I know it's off topic (Sorry) but we went from Charles Pierre to Alfred Morris…. Who's the likely starting RB for next year?

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

That's an excellent question. Was wondering the same thing myself.

Re: Tightends?

I'm not too familiar with the spread. Do RB's see a lot of touches in the spread? I know the QB runs a lot but not sure about the running backs
