Top 25 watch

Post

Memphis and Boise aren’t going to all of the sudden drop out (they were ranked too high).  And App State won and is 13-1 - so they are going to be ranked somewhere around 18th (probably alongside Memphis). The question is will mediocre P5 teams keep schools like Air Force, UCF (10 wins including convincing wins against us and Marshall), and FAU out?  History tells us a name like Texas A&M will trump the G5 schools.   I’d argue UCF getting ranked helps us - 2 of our 3 losses to ranked teams sounds better.

Virginia should lose convincingly, so that would give another top-25 spot.  It is going to be close.

Boise getting stomped by unranked WA might help but not Memphis. Texas A&M will jump us and UCF.  Cincy losing to a 6-6 BC would be a huge help. Agreed it is going to be very close.

GO OWLS!

Western Kentucky won today against Western Michigan, Slightly good news for Conference USA and FAU.

This is the Coaches poll. We are listing way below SMU in  the teams below the top 25 receiving votes.  SMU got 61 votes but FAU is tied with UCF who got 6 votes. Were the coaches on drugs when they did the ranking?

You do realize that the poll is from December 8th, correct?

I was just looking at this as well. SMU received 63 votes in the AP poll, the most of any unranked team. And then we steamrolled them.

No, the CFP poll before the bowl games was December 8th. They have had some polls post December 8th. For example The CBS 130 poll had FAU at 50 before the Boca Bowl game and ranked 30th after the game. I do not know how they combine the various rankings as there are 4 different polls at the CBS site.

The CBS link you referenced points to the Coaches Poll results from December the 8th…

Yet CBS matches identically the ESPN version of this ranking which states that it is week 16

https://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings

https://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings/_/week/15/year/2019/seasontype/2

FAU is not in week 15 of the ranking. This obviously came after the bowl game. SMU's total is not the same but they lost only a few points. In Week 16, we are tied with UCF.

The poll says Dec 30; however, the link takes you to a poll from Dec 8.  I think you meant you to post a link to that one.
