FAUtuba those are some good pics...I am curious to know though if the tracks close proximity to the airport is in any way trying to insinuate anything about our athletes speed? :)

The pics look very good. When I was on campus a few weeks ago I noticed the track more than the field. It looks from the pictures like they have a clear plan in mind of how the field will be used. It would be nice if it somehow includes football. GO OWLS!!!

Track Update

Well right now there is a flag football field on the turf. Man difference form a regular football field, other then less lines and field goals, is that its only 100 yards long (80 yards between end-zones). However, both athletics and campus rec made sure there was enough room inside the track to squeeze in a 120 yard field.

Thanks for the info. I thought the field looked small when I saw it. That explains why.

Here is the video of the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Look for the link right over the date. "Groundbreaking Video"

What I liked about this was Brogan, Angelos and others show a committment to keep going forward and be competative national and they didn't appear cocky like the new FIU staff that just came on board. These guys showed some class.

We'll get there.

Man this university has come a long way.

The only thing that concerns me though is Brogan confirmed the 30K stadium. This might be good for Sunbelt facilities requirments but how does it stand up to the BSC conference requirements. Are we going to stay with the Sunbelt for a good long time?

I would not worry about the 30k seats. It would be very easy to add endzone seats. I would also rather have a smaller stadium right off the back for perception reasons... A packed smaller venue always looks better the a empty larger venue with the same amount of attendance. Besides for that, look at Rutgers, there stadium is small and it has not seemed to harm them one bit in recruiting.
