Im bumbing this one back up..... Eric (omgericisleet) and I were asked to come up with some traditions that could get started besides the cannon.. we have a few that were thinking about emplementing, but if any of you have any sugjestions post here... for instance, one that were thinking of is while the team is lineing up hootie goes over there and instead of the players slapping the sign in the locker room for good luck they rub hootie as they come out of a tunnel w/ fog... we were thinking of calling it "the ruffling of the feathers" lol.... just a thought.. we had nothing else to do on that 7 hour drive to tally.... If you posted no... give us some ideas....

When we get the dome or maybe before if possible. Train some of the owls on campus to fly around and swoop the crowd at the games during the teams entrance. Also build them a cool area in the middle of campus to live ( a habitat) spell check?...

We sould really try to get some live owls in to mix that would be really cool... FSU has Renegade and the Chief, UGA has UGA the Bull Dog, and FAU could have a the Flying Owls.... Well it is a cool pipedream any way.....

The live Owls will be tricky as they are an endangered species(at least our beloved Burrowing Owl), and might not be allowed legally.

Exactly why we cant do it, believe me that was the first thing we thought of. Think of a new one…

Well Well If eveyone likes the idea of live owls we could build them a habitat so that all of the students could see them... also mabe help to keep them around.... In there are many indangered animals that a trained look a sea world or busch gardens all thouse birds and other animal that are in shows... So my guess is that if there is a will there is a way... but if you would rather rub the owl then that ur deal, I think that idea is a little fem. but thats may be just me.....

Man…Having an Owl as a mascot sure does make things difficult. Perhaps Owlie could adapt something from Sebastian the Ibis and try to get the stands to chant "F…A…U" after a score. Since the home stands are normally filled from the West endzone on the South side to East endzone it could be broken into three sections with each section saying a different letter. The Cheerleaders could assist by having giant "F" "A" "U" signs and they could station themselves in front of the respective sections. ??
If they want to do anything that involves fan participation they need to hand out instructions at the gates so it is very clear.

you guys who keep asking for the live owl's it is just not possible as in its not going to "fly". we need to think of things that are actually able to get started in now not 10 years from now. they dont have to "rub" the owl they can ruff him up a lil slap him around like a goalie gets the sticks in the pads before a game everyone could ruffle up owly and that would be called the ruffling the feathers. i know it would get all the players pumped up!

This is a tough one - UCF have a pretty good thing going before game time. I have tried to brainstorm for ideas that the Owls Mascot (name should be BurlyOwl if you ask me) could do before the game, but everything just seems to be to difficult to pull off.

I still think something needs to be done before the game which could include the cannon ;)

I always liked when the cheerleaders (last year a few times drunk students would attemp it) would take the F-A-U flags and lead the team onto the field. Also use the same flags in the end-zone after a score.

About the caged Owls - couldn't we get a place that takes care of endangered species to supply the Owls??
The have a bunch on not-for-profit places that could do it for a small donation.
