flights look to be a bit expensive around $350 or so last i checked.. good news tickets are 40$ and not hard to get…

so at $300 per head and 25 tickets that would be $7500 to charter a small plane…dont see how that couldn't be doable…

and you leave and return when you want…….

Boca Raton Exec handles that capapcity of plane as well…

last time i checked a small plane was 9 passangers and like $20k for a jet and $14k for a prop, what type of plane holds 25?, i think you are looking more at a 727 at that point and thats about 100 people..

good luck, i can barely get 1 peson to go with me to N.O.

One other point: If FAU goes to NOLA, remember to buy game tickets only through FAU The bowl bases at least half of its payout in tickets. If you by tickets from any other source than FAU, the university gets nothing.

Re: trip to New Orleans

I'm sure they'll advertise "all over campus" how to get tickets.

Which is great since most of their fan base is NOT on campus!!

At FAU, it's definitely about who you know.

Before, you had to know a handful of people – mostly SGA and housing people – to know what was going on.

It's still mostly that way but now there are event invitations on Facebook, Ted/Marcus blogs and of course this website.

I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.  Facebook invitations are not the way to improve.

I hope you are a student and I hope you spread the message that this is not an acceptable way of doing things.  You want Boca Raton High School to outnumber us at their games then fine, but we are primed, and I think everyone on the board is on board, and want to be a part of something bigger.

Each and everyone of us are FAU and how this has been handled so far is a serious slap in the face to every alumni, owl fan and student out there.  All of us care way too much for this university, and this program in particular, and we demand to have that reciprocated in some form stronger than a Facebook invitation.

Can I get an Ah-Men!?!

You're not understanding what I'm saying.

I'm not saying that the Facebook invitation should be the SOLE source of information. It has been PART of a multi-pronged approach to advertising the games and it HAS improved attendance, so it's a PART of "how to improve." Students make the Facebook Event invitations, not Athletics. It's free, it's easy and it's effective. It's students recruiting students and we all want that to happen.

It works well for students since most FAU students, both current and alumni, are on Facebook. Students may not see the red flyers that Athletics has left in the bookstore or taped up "all over campus" amongst a flurry of other flyers in the Breezeway. In fact, most students DON'T see what Athletics does. That's just a fact of life and Athletics knows it.

Now, obviously the Facebook invitations don't work well for people who aren't on Facebook. That's a given.

And that is why FAU sports marketing uses other techniques, from radio to billboards to the fausports.com website. Do they need to do more? Yes. Do they have the money to do more? Doesn't sound like it.

We all want this program to be as big as UF/FSU… but if anything we've learned it takes time and a lot of money.

Re: trip to New Orleans

Now that I have a clear understanding of what you mean, let me explain something to you:  The current way we all get information is not working with or without further resources.  To think its a success, is naive.

Last checked, sending out e-mails to all FAU fans (season ticket holders, students, alumni, hell county officials!) does not cost a dime.  Yet, it still doesn't seem to be getting done.

We aren't as big as UF or FSU, in time we could be but we aren't.  We have shortcomings and a budget that's weak, yes we do as do most athletic departments.

Re: trip to New Orleans

Having said all that, thank god FAU has hired a marketing firm to shore up these issues.

It's so nice to hear!
