trip to New Orleans

I agree with grayowl one million percent.  There is no excuse for not emailing us updates.  It's a shame that people like grayowl and countless others aren't kept in contact with.  Our campus is growing and changed so much and we need all the support and interest we can muster.

Owlcountry, I am happy facebook is working.  Thanks to all that took action and keep it growing.  I drove by a billboard the other day on the turnpike (before Glades) and it was on the other side of the road.  I wonder how visible that is.

That's the way the I-95 sign was too. Wrong side of the road, right near the exit.

I imagine they did it because it was cheap enough and it was better than nothing but… I'd rather have them place one billboard on the right side of the board than three billboards on the wrong side.

Regarding not being emailed updates… obviously I hope they do that. To alumni: What have you gotten since the beginning of the year? Did you even recieve the football schedule with information on how to get season tickets back at the beginning of the year?

Re: trip to New Orleans

they sent me my tickets and billed me, but I don't think I would've gotten anything if I wasn't already a season ticket holder.

Re: trip to New Orleans

I have recieved invitations for Alumni functions and my season ticket order forms for Football and Basketball by mail, I don't know who sends what, but that's it.  I recieve no emails about any functions, campus activities, upcoming games…nothing…nada…zilch.  I think we had a thread about this a couple of years ago and another one a few years before that so it's getting a little old and I have pretty much given up expecting anything else from FAU.  That's why I check on here to keep up with what's going on.

Then we have pep rally's at 4:00 in the afternoon on a weekday. I'd say most people are at work/class. Why not have a HUGE pep rally at 7:00 at night or 8:00 when more people can make it. If you advertise about it all season long, people may get sick of hearing and seeing it but when it comes time I bet they show up.

Jab: I know where you were going with this blog and you made some valid points. Not in a negative way and more in an informational way, we (SG and student leaders) battled for years to get pep rallies later in the evenings. The problem with that is players won't show up then because they have mandatory study hall and coaches have dinners, etc..

Also, I found out a rule yesterday that I didn't know. NCAA considers "appearances" pep rallies, etc. as part of the teams practice time - thus cutting in to their regular practice time schedule for that week.

Dusky if not for this board and Hutton's blog I'd be totally lost as far as FAU athletics

Thanks for input Smitty. I definitely didn't want it to be negative. Being negative and bashing everyone isn't going to help. I didn't know about the study hall and the practice time. I'm sure a lot of us on here have a lot of great ideas I just wish someone from FAU would find the time to sit down with some of us and hear our ideas.

Have you emailed the Alumni Association about this…?

Re: trip to New Orleans

How many people show up for a 4 pm pep rally?  Just curious….

Do we really need players there for a pep rally?  It should be a community event to generate interest and excitement.

Countless times in the past, and to be honest I don't feel like going through it again.  I have decided to take the role of finding my own information and going to the games on my own accord, it's alot less frustrating this way.
