I agree with most of the sentiments there. You have to exaggerate a bit to get people thinking forward, although he might have just mentioned SEC simply because it's such a well-known BCS conference, not because he thinks we have a shot at getting in there (which we don't).

Saying "Conference USA" isn't likely to open many wallets but he was sure to say Big East because he's been saying that all along. I don't think you can argue that UCF is ahead of us in facilities and attendance (and arguably, location) and if those are as significant of factors in an BE invite as the UCF fans believe them to be then we need to get to their level to contend for UCF's spot (or a spot alongside them, even though I don't think they'll take both of us… as much as I don't think they'd take FIU in 2012 either).

Anyway, 2012 is a nice target year because the facilities (and likely the fanbase) should be in place there in the middle of what would then be a traditional university. What happens between now and then is absolutely crucial. This program cannot have any losing seasons between now and then. Additionally, we need to fill 2009+ schedules with name teams and either beat them or at least fight to the bitter end on national TV – as we've said many many times before.

The key for FAU over the next 5 years is to simply win.  They CANNOT take any steps back…a 3-8 season would be murder.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

I think it was posted on the OZARK DAILY NEWS…..j/k  ;D

I agree a losing season right now would be BAD!!!!  we cant afford to lose too many seniors without the backups ready to go…….The next two years will be BIG for whoever backups Rusty…..we cant have a "hiccup" in that spot little less any other spot!

Seeing what we do without Cerge this year will be interesting……he was a big part of that D

The story was in the Vero Beach Press Journal, more than likely the rest of the Treasure Coast Newspapers (Stuart News, Port St. Lucie News, Fort Pierce Tribune), and perhaps the Jupiter Courier.

Here it is:

Good question, I usually try to keep up with other Belt news & sometimes forget to keep tab's on the tcpalms which do run articles on FAU form time to times.  I will have to include this paper on my normal news feeds.

I have been busy trying to automate all my news feeds for all the lastest news around the belt much like the USA Todays articles, which list the latest college sports news.  I might try to include a wider array of news feeds to include all of FAU news so it doesn't happen in the future.

Schnelly has alway been very upfront with where he would like to see FAU football become in the future and has taken some flack for his visions that seem to be to grandeous for some.

I think it would be very rewarding to see Howard move the program to a BCS conference & having FAU palying in an on-campus stadium in the very near future before the Wise Old Owl retires for good.
