UCF QB Godfrey to transfer..

UCF QB Godfrey to transfer..

UCF released a statement declaring Godfrey ineligible for the spring semester and it is not tied to the NCAA recruiting investigation (that screams grades).  The funny thing is that grades have not been turned in yet.

To me he is nothing but a trouble maker.  He is very close with Luther Campbell (uncle luke)  :o

You have a man that can run the spread on the team. His name is Frank Thompson. He was an option QB at edgewater high in Orlando, fl. I think he might get a shot at it.

He is a walk on, correct?

Found this video of him at QB:

Not too bad and may as well give him a shot - what do we have to lose. Seems to "float" the ball though and that won't work in college ball.

Godfrey was OFFERED by FSU, Miami, Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee and USF. If you can get a recruit that has serious interest from those types of programs you snatch him up!

Jacory Harris was also offered by a ton of schools, dont want him.  Just sayin.

Ah Walty - if Jacory was playing at FAU I think he easily wins SB player of the year (well either him or TY). Just saying.  :D

Re: UCF QB Godfrey to transfer..

There are all sorts of rumors buzzing about this on the UCF board.  He would be a good addition to FAU, or pretty much any school.

Godfrey did lead UCF to their first bowl win when we beat UGA.  This year was just rough - I think all UCF fans were caught up in the momentum of last year, expecting huge things and minimizing the losses of seniors.  Godfrey just seemed off this year - even things he excelled at like scrambling, he would just trip and fall over when he could've gotten a lot more yards.  Bad passes, wild passes, etc.  There are a few interpretations flying around:

1. Blaming O'Leary for forcing Godfrey to be something he's not
2. Teams who had a year of tape to review figured him out - i.e. when we played FIU, they blitzed the crap out of Godfrey and sacked him like a million times (that's what it felt like at least)
3. Godfrey's height - it's listed as 5'11" or something but some say that's exaggerated - they say that's why he was less effective as a passer because he couldn't see downfield
4. UCF's O-Line sucked, period
5. Godfrey should've stayed and competed rather than bolting at the first sign of competition

I dunno myself.  I just cheer for the team.  It would be cool if he played for FAU.

Anyway, here are highlights from last season, which went better for him:

Ain't no way UM takes him with his connections to the scandal, I bet he ends up at FIU.

If FIU or UM want this guy; take him.
I don't want him here at FAU.
We are good with Curtis, Bracewell and possibly Kane.

Recruit us a JC spread qb (if we want to win sooner than later) to get these young inexperienced qb's time to learn the new system whomever puts in.

Re: UCF QB Godfrey to transfer..

He wants to come close to home, but FIU just doesn't look like an option to me if he doesn't want competition.

Break down of FIU's QB's:

2012:
Jake Medlock R-So.
Loranzo Hammands R-Fr.
Fred Porter R-Fr. (preferred walk-on)
E.J. Hilliard Fr. (Committed 3-star prospect from Miami Northwestern)

2013:
Medlock R-Jr.
Hammands R-So.
Porter R-So.
Hilliard R-Fr.
(Jeff Godfrey R-Jr.)

2014:
Medlock R-Sr.
Hammands R-Jr.
Porter R-Jr.
Hilliard R-So.
(Jeff Godfrey R-Sr.)

With Medlock now starting for the Panthers, Godfrey would basically be walking into a situation where he would be trying to beat out an experienced starter.

He was recruited as a DB by all of these schools.  He's too short to play QB, he's like 5'10".  Also, there is rumors that he has serious "character" issues which is part of the reason he is being released.

Take him on a short leash as a DB or as a WR, otherwise, NO THANK YOU!

Your telling me you wouldn't take a QB who…

-Set the UCF single-season record for rushing yards by a quarterback, rushing touchdowns by a freshman quarterback and passing yards by a true freshman quarterback

-Led all true and redshirt freshmen in the FBS with a 66.8 completion percentage, placed second in efficiency, second in rushing touchdowns, third in rushing yards and fourth in total offense (2,725)

-Ranked fourth among true freshmen in passing yards and fifth in completions

-Joined Notre Dame's Tommy Rees and BYU's Jake Heaps as the only true freshman quarterbacks to lead his team to a bowl win

-Became the first true freshman quarterback in FBS history to guide his team to a victory in a conference championship game

-Was the Conference USA Freshman of the Year

Let me guess, you also think Tim Tebow can't make it as a QB in the NFL  ::)

Russell Wilson is 5'11". Andy Dalton is 5'10".
