Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns have moved the dates of two games on their 2005 football schedule, alterations for television that have been noted on the school's athletic Web site but have not yet been announced.

The fifth contest of the season, a home game that opens Sun Belt Conference action against Florida Atlantic at Cajun Field, will be switched to Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. after originally been slated for Saturday, Oct. 8.

UL's sixth game, the following week, at Arkansas State in Jonesboro also has been moved up to Thursday, going from the Oct. 15 to the 13th in Jonesboro, Ark., with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.

"We are making changes to move those games for TV," said Chris Jackson, assistant commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference. "We will not release those changes as a league until Media Day (July 25), but the schools are welcomed to release as soon as they are confirmed.

"All the changes should be totally confirmed pretty soon."

"As far as I know, it's not definite yet," said UL coach Rickey Bustle when informed of the Web site notations. "The last time I heard, it sounded like there was a good chance of it.

"What I'm understanding is that we may be on TV five or six times this season, including Texas (Sept. 3). I think UL-Monroe wants to get our game (Nov. 19 at ULM) on TV, and Florida International (Nov. 12 at Cajun Field) is trying to get that game sent back to Miami."

"This is going to be our best year for televised games," Jackson said. "Of course, with ESPN-U now, and the relationship we already have with ESPN, we have a lot of opportunities. Plus, we're going to expand our regular-season package a little bit.

"Obviously we're thrilled with a little more exposure."

Bustle, whose season preparations have always been meticulous with session-by-session plans for each practice already well laid out, has taken precautions while he waits for word of the change.

"I make out my itinerary for each game, and I'm doing it both ways for both of those weeks," said Bustle, whose Cajuns were 4-7 last season.

The season opener at Rose Bowl champion Texas had already been announced as a 6 p.m. game for Fox Sports Net.

Another, less dramatic change also has showed up on the Web site schedule, with the Oct. 22 road game at Middle Tennessee listed as a 4 p.m. kickoff after an earlier listing of 2 p.m.

Currently, four of the Cajuns' 11 contests are day games this fall - Middle Tennessee, the Oct. 29 homecoming against Troy at 4 p.m., the Nov. 12 home finale and Senior Day against FIU at 4 p.m. and the Nov. 19 finale at ULM, a 3 p.m. game.

CAJUN CLIPPINGS - The Cajuns report for fall drills on Aug. 7 and will commence practice at 3:30 p.m. on the 8th … two-a-days begin on Aug. 13, with 2005 Fan Day activities planned for 6-7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14 … scrimmages are scheduled for Aug. 17 (3:30 p.m.), Aug. 20 (1:30 p.m.) and Aug. 24 (3:30 p.m.).

To touch on what bighooter said...does anyone know if there has been any progress with a TV contract this year?

I thought the ADT contract(2004) was for more than one year. I could be wrong.

I hope it is, but I would think we would have heard more about it by now.

The pending Sun Belt affiliation may have led to them only taking a one year contract with ADT with an option year. The Conference tie ins does have better bargaining power.

This is the old article. However, it doesn't mention any type of contract length.
