ULL and the spread

I'm pretty surprised that were only 6.5 point favorites over the Cajuns. they seem to be in a downward spiral these days.

Not really a surprise with this one being on the road.  Road games are supposed to be tougher.  Add to the fact that FAU has never beaten both of the Louisiana schools in the same season having lost to one or the other in each of the past three seasons.  Actually, all three of those losses (last year to the Cajuns and the two years prior to the Warhawks) were all held in Fort Lauderdale.  I think Vegas looks at trends too–not just how teams are playing in the current season.

If they actually take trends into consideration for their picks and points in vegas, then you would think that after the first half of this season in college football they would throw that factor out of their theory. I dont think it will be a blow out because their coach is severely burning right now for being on the hot seat, but i still dont think it will be that close. Probably something like a 17-20 pt spread. It really depends if we keep playing like we did against USF or if we come out flat from the bye week.

Re: ULL and the spread

if we put up 27 I would be very upset. there giving up 500 yards a game. Putting up 27 on these guys would be like putting up 3 against USF.

i hear ya…but consider this as well in comparison to the USF game at Lockhart:

- we have a net loss of 12k FAU fans at the game…

- they had a truly humiliating loss prior to coming into the game against us…

- it's thier home field advantage…

all this equals some bigtime momentum shift…….

i also think we will try and "grind it out" on the ground a bit  more against them now that we are in conference play…i dont know if we will stick to the predominant pass ratio we have lately…but who knows!

we'll just have to wait and "see" - TWO HOURS LATE   >:(  :'(  ::)

Re: ULL and the spread

Someone mentioned that the Owls had not had a dominating performance this year. While that is true when you review entire games, I thought the first half against Minnesota would easily fit into the "dominating" category, though the second half certainly would not. Of course, I am just a crazy Colorado Rockies fan who paid far too much for the privilege of sitting outside in a cold rain to watch them beat Arizona Sunday night, then went back Monday in the chill (no rain, at least) for the clincher. I most likely need to have my head examined. Or perhaps I am just preparing for ski season (Breckenridge got more than a foot of snow Sunday).

I don't think youre crazy, I think thats awesome! lol. I know it's not even close to being the same but that 1 game when we get our own stadium and it is just coming down in buckets I know I'll be out there. If the players are out there I can be out there… Makes the game a lot fun that way too

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

FAU hasn't had a dominating performance yet and I would imagine with two weeks off and players rested we should have a blowout. The team is only 3-3 so I can't imagine them taking this game lightly.

I would like to see a big time blowout here, with the offense putting up over 40 points a game, which its capable of doing, everyone has against them. And the defense holding them to 10 points.

Think about, our d hasn't dominated a game yet, this is there chance. Plus after getting scared at North Texas these players can't be too cocky.

Owls 45
Cajuns 10

Hmmmm.  So the Florida Atlantic University Owls pulled one out of their rectums in overtime to beat the Cajuns.  Congrats.  I hope this game tonight taught you a lesson about never underestimating the potential of your opponents.  If you thought this game was gonna' be tough, ULM next weekend in Fort Lauderdale will actually be tougher.  ULM has your number in Lockhart (2-0 are the Warhawks in that stadium).

I have to admit.  I predicted a 28-24 Cajun win and looked very close to that score until Charles Pierre pulled a miracle out for FAU late in the 4th.  You guys may not like me, but I think I know a little bit about what I'm talking about.  It's all about the matchups and not who beat who and how that team played against that team and comparing scores and schedules.  That crap don't matter.  It's all about the matchups.  Louisiana was the first team FAU has beaten this year that rushed for at least 200 yards.  That's what surprised me.  FAU struggles to beat teams that can run the football and they did today, but pulled it out.

But if you saw the score, it was hardly 45-10 in favor of FAU.
