Not to be Debbie Downer on this, but does athletics and the administration speak regarding the scheduling of home games?

As a season ticket holder, I was disappointed in the turnout in the student section to say the least at the final home game, but after further research, FAU has re-instituted Reading Day(s), and they are December 1-3, so a student could have conceivably had no classes for a week including Thanksgiving.

Why would a student come back with the match-up being Old Dominion instead of either staying home for an additional few days or going to party in either Tallahassee or Gainesville depending on the location of that game.

Just a thought…

A very good point I had worried about as well. We need more early season home games to help build a winning record and need to try to not schedule home games during breaks, if possible.

FAU has no control of the confrence game schedule and when they are home games.  That is all done through the confrence office. In the end it the confrence that decides when we have our home confrence games. Non conference is done between the schools.

Strange, I'll speak for all students when I say we've been disappointed in the turnout out of non-students the past three years. So there's that.

I wish we could break ground in January, and have at least indoor practice facility done before 1st home game…

I'm currently discussing with my boss, and hope to submit a bid for engineering services (if they haven't picked anybody yet)…  :Big-Grin:

I dont know a ton about building…but wont the permits and proposals take time?  I wonder if we already started these processes?  Anybody have a clue?

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Permitting is ways down the road. Right now, companies will line up and submit the request for proposals, get qualified, picked and then start designing. That takes time. The most time efficient way to do it, is pick one of the engineering firms that have recently done work for the school (since a lot of them may have continuing contract with the school). FAU might turn to the companies that worked on the burrow or the stadium, or make it open and let other companies bid for the job.

So if we are spending $16 mm on this complex will be be better than bamas because they spend 9 mm on theres and its beautiful….. if this is what i think it is we are going to sky rocket in skill levels

The 16MM is just the start. Estimated cost is 45-50 million. This indeed sounds like a world class facility. And we have a lot more fund raising to do. Good news is the schmidts got us just about 1/3 of the way there in one blow.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

That Bama number is misleading, they spent way more on the facility you're thinking of. The building with the waterfalls and game room wasn't only $9m, it was way more.

Tennessee has a similar facility, 150,000 sq feet with a $40m price tag.

Now let that sink in for a second. We're talking about building a facility similar to Tennessee, that's crazy.
