Variations in Football Uniforms/Sample Alternate Uniforms

The unfortunate thing about the internet is that as of right now no one can decipher tone, sarcasm, ETC…. ::)  It wasn't my intention to come across "rude" so my bad if I did.  It's just that the thread title was worded as if 2010 changes were in the works and instead it's just an opinion piece which is fine.

If they do update them I hope they are along the lines of what OWL ERIC came up with.  That road ALT 2 reminds me of the Patriots Jersey's in the 85 superbowl when they got crushed by the bears.  Just the colors swapped on the top and pants.

First off Owl Eric I think your variations to jazz up the uniforms are great, and simple.  That can be the first steps at giving us a different look and keeping us under a budget for now.  I think our jerseys are very nice and traditional and the colors can match anything.  When the stadium is built maybe a nice tweek with our jersey to incorporate a more futuristic look might do us right in the new stadium.  We can possibly get stitched lettering as opposed to mesh lettering and get the Nike Dri fit technology like the Oregons unis have which makes it a more complete fit for players.  I think what we need now is a better Maketing strategy for our jerseys online, and other retail shops such as Champssports.  We are sponsored by Nike but the only way us as fans ever get our hands on the Nike Fau gear is by the rumage sales.  Something needs to be done where the FAU nike replica jerseys and other Nike fau based gear can be on sale and mass distributed locally if possible.  The jerseys we have on sale on the fau site are decent, but with the incorporation of the Nike gear on sale and for a decent price it can further improve our branding making us more recognizable statewide and nationwide.  But,hopefully all of this goes through soon enough as we continue to establish Fau academically and athletically@

I work at Sports Authority (Delray Beach)  and we have virtually no FAU gear.  It blows my mind, in fact I saw an FAU coach in there wearing one of the Nike FAU jacket pull overs and told him how awesome it was.  He told me thanks and says he has no idea why FAU won't make the NIKE stuff more available but thinks they would make a ton of revenue if they did(He said especially the NIKE Polo's).  There is some Nike swag available at the book store but it's limited to some T-shirts and a bland hooded sweatshirt.  FAU is such a football school and if the school was smart they would capitalize on this. But what do we know right?…. ::)

It's all about the green.  If you own the local store and you have limited space to sell products (and space is expensive), do you use the space for 10 FAU shirts and 10 FAU hats that may sit around for a while, or do you use that same space to sell 50 Dolphin shirts and 50 Dolphin hats in the same timeframe?  And then have to market the fact you have FAU gear because no one knows it, but they know they can find Dolphin gear there.

The fan base needs further growth to justify many businesses going out on a financial limb.

I completely agree–it's tough to decipher sometimes!  I'll change the title to the future so there is no confusion!  As far as FAU gear for us fans–I can not wait until I can go on any college sports website and find FAU gear.  The FAU jersey I own is sad!

I really like the entire uniform. Great idea, hope they do it for the opener.

Um, they don't have money for quite a few things, including practice attire…

Not seeing a new uniform anytime soon!

Sorry to say, though!
