Nope. Here's a great idea: how about student government try to get students to attend games AND stay past halftime.
How do you suggest doing that?
My sarcastic comments were directed to the thought that Student Government was going to spend money on these noise makers because the stadium is so quiet. Not directed at Student Government directly.
Not sure anything will work as the students (for the most part) have made it clear there is little interest in supporting athletics. We have 28k students and a couple thousand go to football games regularly. Basketball is worse (and it's on campus).
I am not blaming student government for this. I am not blaming anyone…it is where we are in our history that is the biggest obstacle. But I agree with others that winning helps everything.
We may have 28k enrolled students but don't for a minute think that's how many "students" we have at FAU. I think one way to level out our expectations is to look at FAU as a 10,000 student university, because thats how many traditional students we have…We get more than 10k at our football games, I think we're doing quite well for only being able to build a fan base over 10 years.
We have come a long way in the 10 years of this program and it will only get better…

Isn't there a rule on the books against artificial noise makers now?
I believe they would definitely (and thankfully ) fall into that category.
This was a part of my original question intent: Is there a rule or not?
If there isn't, then why aren't we taking advantage as fans and being creative in the ways we can support (i.e. crowd noise) the team?
yes there is a rule. We tried to bring a cowbell into FIU in '07 but were told we had to put it back, no artificial noise makers. Same for basketball, they stopped play when Nunzio used his rings to make noise because they thought there was some kind of artificial noise maker being used
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!
