call me crazy but i think they need to stay conditioned for the outdoors of florida. Realistically how many practices do they lose because of rain? I think the indoor facility is waste and will hurt us in the long run.

How so?

You have to realize that the threat of rain controls our practice schedule.

Exactly. An indoor facility is about maintaining the ability to practice despite lightning conditions outside.

Practicing in the humidity is one thing, as you get accustomed to it and that could give us an advantage (it hasn't really, but theoretically it could).

Practicing in the rain does nothing. You could practice in a deluge every day of the week in the Fall camp and come gameday you'll still have problems because practices don't change the fact that water is wet, players slip on wet, and the focus of the game inevitably shifts from "scoring touchdowns" to "staying upright."

No way can we get an indoor facility before upgrading the baseball stadium, but where would you guys suggest putting it?

I agree we need an indoor facility but just for use in bad weather. And I think covering the track to make it an indoor facility makes sense and would make it a multi-use facility immediately.

Re: Wagner getting ready for FAU

I have a feeling it would be difficult but we need to get the city of Boca Raton and all of Palm Beach County to support FAU football.  Broward County to the south and Martin County to the north should also be targets, and I imagine they are.  We need community support.  I know this may sound naive but I believe we need to make parking and tailgating easier to do, is anything set up with the stores/restaurants across the street?  Tailgating parties with one or two of the restaurants serving drinks, a shuttle service across the street to the stadium.  Parking in the grass under the trees on the south side of campus, at UF we park in the neighborhoods around the stadium, I know we don't have that here but I think parking has become too rigid, heck I still don't know where I am supposed to park and I work at the College of Education.  It's absurd to me that after paying for parking and working here for 15 years and being a season ticket holder and buying a brick and donating a portion of my paycheck to the football team for several years now that I have to go to my car this Friday evening and move it to the other side of the campus!  Sorry for the length of this post.

I agree, I think parking is a little bit ahead of its time at FAU.  We should just pay for a parking pass and it should be general parking everywhere on campus.  First come, first serve.  Obviously the RV lot would still be an RV lot.

I really dont understand breaking it up into colors by donor level.  Let the seats and bar access do that.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Nope. Don't even think FAU has pursued this. We have a pretty pathetic relationship with that piece of property. It doesn't feel "FAU" at all.

Excellent ideas. I'm with you 100%.

Right, and for those on here that have never been there, that's because there's almost zero parking at UF. You think parking is bad at FAU? It's literally impossible for undergrads at UF. They've built on most of their parking lots and the smattering of parking garages are barely enough to hold their graduate population, to say nothing about their extensive undergraduate population.

Between FAU and the PBSC campus at FAU, we do have enough parking - which is good because there isn't an efficient bus system here (like the RTS in Gainesville) or enough student/alumni housing within walking distance of campus.

As you guys may know, Boca is expediting two plans right now that will bring "workforce" housing close to campus: one called University Village that will bring 1,500+ residences (likely apartments) on the north side of Spanish River Blvd across from FAU. Then another one over by the IBM park. That puts more people close enough to campus to walk or at least to take a shuttle in the future. Add to that the kids who will be living in University Park (on 20th) that will provide a shuttle over.

This will be key because every year they build 2-3 buildings and it's usually on top of an existing parking lot. Case in point: the new dorm. The next phases of it will eat up at least one of the new parking lots it has created. Then what? Well, the parking lots north of Engineering and west of Education are earmarked for buildings too.

Point is for fans: you should probably get used to parking by PBSC. That's the only "safe" lot from future FAU construction.

I'm not a fan of this idea, although that is the most "visible" location if we wanted to show it off. The problem is that it would have to include the track so it would cost us even more money to build a covering that included both. Not just the track: it would have to include space for bleachers too since the track hosts track meets that (could) draw audiences. So that's even bigger.

If the oxley fields run in the opposite direction; they could fit 3 football fields; however, the small piece of land south of the fields would need to be added to fit 3 football fields. That way the bubble can be installed on 1 field without sacrificing one of the 2 fields they have now.

This just and idea.

Do you think that that Coach McCormack be willing to give up his practice baseball field for a indoor practice facility in the future?
