Washington Times: Owls Football Pre-season #112

Another low baller…or, are they right?

Only time will tell…

No. 112 FLORIDA ATLANTIC

"The welcome development for Schnellenberger is the opening of an on-campus stadium after playing at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale for the better part of a decade. The Owls' home opener is Oct. 15, and it could be a haggard, road-weary 0-5 outfit that limps into the program's big day if a quarterback cannot emerge as an effective option."

Two other Belt members get their nod in 111-115 in WKU (#114) and UNT (#111):

Re: Washington Times: Owls Football Pre-season #112

They won three games by a point, and lost only twice by single digits. It's no stretch to suggest Florida Atlantic was a lot closer to going 1-11 than 6-6 in 2010.

Of course as an Owl fan, I have my twisted perspective. Some of these projection articles mention the fact that we have new stadium going for us. But what does that really mean? I feel if Coach, and his staff, can use the stadium in terms of "protecting our house"…our brand new, hard fought hollowed grounds to inspire the boys, we might suprise a few.
If these gentlemen can play with focused emotion, inspired by their new crib, can we win 4 out of the 5 home games? Looking at the schedule, I can see this happening (if I try hard enough). Then, all we need is just 2 road wins to be 6 and 6. Not fantastic by any means, but it would be an improvement over last year…and definitely not in the bottom of the polls.

100% agree with you Prowler!

In fact I beleive we can win all five home games IF we as fans support this team and be not only the proverbial 12th man, but 13th, 14th and 15th as well!

The way this stadium sits ON TOP of the field we should be able to totally drown out the qb calls and audibles thereby creating such confusion (offsides, missed rout adjustments by the receivers, etc…). And when they approch the south endzone (student and BAND section) OUCH! When their kicker is setting up for a xp or fg, the view towards that endzone should look like a Duke BB game - CRAZY WILD! At both ends actually, now that I think about it, but ESPECIALLY at the student end!

We as fans can now contribute SO MUCH to the team to give them encouragement or any boost they as well!

WE have to make this the MOST DREADED home stadium in college football by ALL of our opponents guys - can't wait for Oct. 15, GO OWLS!

Very nice GaOwl, very nice. My point was to motivate the team internally, by the coaching staff. Your point is to motivate them externally, by the fans in the seats. Set the tempo…I love it! Get them pumped…inside and out!
