We need a new rival school
Wasn't that fun?
Note: The only smack talking I've ever seen are people on this board inventing "smack talk" and claiming we're "afraid" to play FAU. If you just took a minute to review our scheduling, you'd realize we're already over booked from being independent and are now trying to GET OUT of excess games to make room for CUSA schedule.
And with Miami, USF, NC State, and Texas on the schedule for the next few years, tell me where exactly FAU would fit.
Personally, I'd be more worried with beating a good Troy team on Saturday.

How far out are you booked, do you know?

Through 2011. For this next year coming up alone we had 6 OOC games which we had to re-arrange or negotiate out of. And, our new AD wants no less than 7 games per year considering the revenue we can generate per game, so that took some extra negotiating as well. I've heard rumors that he has tried to re-arrange the Miami series so they are @ UCF next year and we return the trip the year after. I believe the NC State game @ UCF has been moved to 2 years from now as well.

Then you'd know better than we would when we'd be able to fit on your schedule for a home-and-home.
Can't necessarily blame your AD for wanting big games in the home stadium – they have to ensure that thing stays filled so people can feel like the cost was justified.

Big games are great, but I think more than anything he just wants MORE games. Even I was skeptic about how many fans the new stadium would draw, but man was I wrong. We've averaged 44,000 per game and drew 41,000 for the "Thanksgiving Weekend" game which notoriously only drew 15,000 or so. I believe our AD's goal is to have 30,000 season ticket holders next year which would only require 6,000 new season ticket holders, so I'd say putting big OOC games in the stadium is a good marketing tool.

I agree. It's the same reason I keep bugging our AD Angelos and Coach Schnellenberger about getting games vs FSU or Miami. In fact, we have enough talented teams in this state that we could conceivably fill up the non-conference schedule with all Florida teams (USF, UCF, FSU, UF, Miami and FIU) if we were so inclined.
I wonder how long it will be before UF/FSU would agree to play in either of our stadiums instead of making us come up to their house.

I can assure you it will not be before 2010. No team in their right mind would want to come to play us at Lockhart. Only reason USF did is because we are only allowed to have 1 game a year at Dolphins Stadium and if we wanted to play Minnesota it had to be there because they wouldn't play us at Lockhart
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

That's for sure. Imagine how embarassing it would be to have the Gators at Lockhart?

I think it would be hilarious if we played UF at Lockhart!
HAHHA can you picture that? There band would take up the entire other end zone. It's actually quite funny imagining UF vs. FAU at Lockhart.
I'm not sure what would be funnier all those mullet wearing red necks in Ft. Lauderdale or watching UF play at Lockhart
