I agree we are terrible but at least we have a stadium in place to recruit. I rather loose in a nice home than drive down to lockhart and have our A$$'s to us there. All in all I had alot of fun and will be returning for the rest of the season. Ive been supporting this team back when we lost to slippery rock, we are going to have good years and bad years, deal with it. We suck this year, probably next year too, but it will get better. I understand everyones anger but just goes to show how many fair weather fans we have down here. I don't support the team because we win, I support the team because I ties there.
Agreed, Show up to the games and support the team– buying into the fact that we are building for the future, or don't show up at all.

We all know this years team sucks, but we didn't give our heart and soul, driving to Miami, ft Lauderdale to have this kind of an effort put forth. It's got nothing to do with fairweather fans. In fact it's the total opposite, we are so passionate about this school that I think this loss effects us on this board more than the players themselves
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Not even sure that would have worked if we had Bobby Rainey instead of Alfred Morris tonight.Jab979 said
But I put the blame on coach Jackson. 3rd and 26 we run up the middle. REALLY?!?
That went over like a pile of bricks in the stands. "Throw a hail mary, something! Have a little g-ddamn faith in yourselves!"Jab979 said
Even before the half, we take a knee.

The cops seemed to be a lot more relaxed than they were originally sounding (all bark and little bite).
The game was a disaster. The only highlight for me was when Curtis came in. This gave me a feeling that maybe, just maybe, we would be working towards the future. But then that was taken from me when Kooi came back in two series later.
The positive is that, for once we can't blame the crowd for not making it "feel" like a home game for the players. My season tickets are in a corporate area, and almost everyone around me were there for free from their work. They were just as loud and having just as much fun as us all. The Players and the Coaches are taking the blame for this home loss.
Now the question is, how empty will it be next week!

Now the game was something else. I have always tried to look at the positives on this team. Unfortunately this game proved to have NONE. I have honestly never seen a more boring, uninspired football game, ever! And I'm not just talking FAU games, I'll even through in High School games! Basically, no heart football…no passion what so ever…especially in this historical game. So sad today…so sad. :'(
But I will be back in my seat next week, for the love of the game, to pray for my Owls, but most of all for the tailgating experience. ;D

The best part of all this was the tailgating…this is what I've waited for 11 years. Let me splain Lucy; sitting in my FAU logo chair, with a cold brew in my hand, tent up with other Owl fans surrounding us, the stadium in plain sight…it hit me, we are home and more importantly, FAU finally felt like a traditional university. That's what I've waited for for 11 years.

I still have a major problem with entry no earlier than 4 hours before kickoff . Tailgating is half the fun (this season probably all of the fun) but by the time you set up, have a couple of beers and cook your food - you have to break down abruptly to get in the stadium 30 mins before kickoff.
I'd lobby for lots to open at least 6 hours before kickoff every game except weekday night games. This may also ease traffic woes. I'm sure it has to do with the cost of employing personnel that early.
Gator games I've tailgated at commonly had tailgaters prior day camping out and thousands show up morning of the game even if an 8PM kickoff.
Good tailgating helps build a loyal fan base

Re: We waited 11 years, for THIS?
The only negative aspects of the day were the way Boca Raton police and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office over-manned the stadium and undermanned traffic flow people. I heard it was brutal off Glades Road, but I came in off Spanish River and it was a breeze.
Also, FAU set aside the largest and most convenient parking lots (adjacent to the stadium, near the alumni center and college of education) for donors. That's understandable. But those lots were empty to half-full (at best), while thousands of people tailgated a half-mile to a mile further away. Walking from the bustling stadium area, to other tailgating areas (such as adjacent to The Burrow), I experienced a dead zone of asphalt. Kind of silly. And it detracted from the feel of the game around the stadium.
If there aren't enough donors to fill the close-up lots, FAU should sell the spaces on a game-by-game basis and get them filled and useful. Also, the area between the track and stadium should be utilized by people for tailgating, tents, etc.
Finally, why wasn't some sort of walkway built around the outside of the press box building? There is no way to go from gate 6 to the Ford tailgating zone out front without trampling the grass. And speaking of that grassy area behind the stadium building, why not utilize it for pre-game events and tailgating?
I hope and am confident FAU can get these issues straightened out.
