That's simple, for this season, I'd rather beat FIU. Beating UF while it would amazing and we'd get such notoriety, that won't help us get to N.O. for a bowl game. We lose to FIU and then we no longer control our own destiny and we get laughed at by every other school in the Belt and even if next year we come out and blow FIU out of the water, they still beat us to stop their losing streak.

So the answer is pretty simple, this season I'd rather beat the snot out of FIU and go into Troy with a lot of confidence and high hopes

I've been saying for awhile that regardless of the score this weekend, the 2011 game vs the Gators should be vastly more competitive.

Without question ANY conference wins are important, especially at this junture of the season.

The UF game does come at an odd time for us, but I think it's what this team needs, a step-up in competetion & a break from conference play.  All conference games have been hard fought, the way they should be and having a chance to just play the game without any added pressure might allow the guys to relax a bit more and play without any fear and implication a lost might mean otherwise.  Much like the USF, UK, Minn. game, it will allow the players to leave it all on the field without having to worry about anything else but the game.

I just hope that we come out of the game injury free.  I can see Schnelly using a bunch of players in this game and could give Rusty a break at one point, especially oif the game gets out of hand.

I agree with Bytor. The FIU game is more important than the UF game. By playing UF the Owls have a chance to get experience against a top tier team before playing FIU. If they can hold up against UF and put on a decent showing they should be able to build some real confidence going into the final stretch of the season. My biggest fear is that FAU will overlook FIU and look ahead to Troy.

Owlfan1, you are right on the money. If ever FAU faced a trap game, it's the one in two weeks vs. FIU. A dominating performance there, however, will say a great deal about coaching and character.
