Another over hyped season!

What are you talking about?  Who over-hyped the season?  Nearly everyone picked us to be middle-of-the-road Sunbelt team.  And then when an analyst says we will struggle, most complain that the analyst has no credibility.  We were over-hyped last year, but not this year.  We may be over-hyped in many minds on here only.

We need the stadium, no denying that. This team has hit a plateau and we all know it. We can't beat BCS teams because we can't draw in anything better than unknown players who we flirt with briefly before saying, "Look around and call us if you can't find anything else!" then pretend like that's recruiting.

What happened today? The team sucked all around. Rusty made stupid passes, the receivers couldn't catch, we couldn't stop the pass… a nightmare and a bore-a-thon at the same time. The only four people that didn't disappoint were Jason Harmon, Alfred Morris, Michael Lockley and Marcus Bartels.

The team is better than this. Or at least I want to believe that. But after today, if you told me FAU was in the Bottom 10 I would believe you. I have zero confidence going into the Wyoming game. Sure, they'll tell our media guys the usual b.s. like, "We need to go back and learn to play football" and "We need to stop making these mistakes" but if you get to the point where you're saying these things after every game… well, you know where I'm going with this.

I do think the coaching has a lot to do with it.  I really think its time to move on.  I love Howard but no one cares that he coached Miami and all those other great teams.  It doesn't matter where he's been, it matters where we are going.  In fact, these recruits today have no idea who Howard is, they weren't alive when he was coaching powerhouses.

I made the mistake, we made the mistake of over stating our ability.  I strongly think that we need coaching changes!  NOT HOWARD, but others need to shape up or ship out!  There is no excuse for the way we are playing!  We are committing ridiculous penalties consistently!  Please, someone save our season!

Re: Well we sure do suck.

I can't help but think our guys are living off the hype of their success from 2 years ago. The truth is we are a middle of the road Sunbelt team ("you are what your record says you are"). Our guys, and the coaches need to look at reality instead of thinking they can overcome stupid mistakes by "big plays". We simply don't have the talent to do that. For crying out loud, we were running the ball well at the end of the 3rd quarter and blew our momentum when they called pass plays in the red zone.

Re: Well we sure do suck.

speaking of sucks, this must be when it really sucks to be a student athlelete. While I was attending FAU I tried to keep distractions to a minimum so I could get through the accounting program. These guys are probably extremely frustrated with themselves and all they can think about is what they have to do improve and to right the ship. I probably would have flucked out if I had a distraction like that.

I guess it will make it easier to fire them then!  Yesterday was beyond pathetic!  We can only pray that they get it together before the Cowboys come to town!

Yeah, several people said he's lost it. I'm not sure if he's lost it per se; most people have characterized him as a streaky quarterback and I think that's fair. But when he's on, the receivers have to be on too or nothing comes from it.

For instance, I don't think Bonner's two drops near the endzone were Rusty's fault. Had he caught one of them, we wouldn't even be having a conversation in this tone. We'd say it was sloppy but we won and that's what matters.

I'm hoping yesterday is the worst we'll see them all season. If I go to the Wyoming game and they play as sloppy as they did yesterday, it's going to be difficult to get excited about any of the home games after that.

Some very poor coaching decisions doomed this game. Going for it on fourth with 26 seconds or so left in the first half and ULM able to move quickly, was a big mistake. Three points to the War Hawks there.

Trying the onsides kick with 3:05 to play - another error that doomed FAU eventual, final field position. Rusty did not even have a chance to throw the "Hail Mary".

A team that can't hit "easy" field goals and extra points is doomed to fail. That simple.

My take in a nutshell - some typical early season FAU poor play, mixed with almost enough stellar plays to win the game, in spite of the errors.

Very disappointing outcome.

Totally agree. If we kick away at the end of the game, we would have made them punt from deeper in their territory. Instead, they pin us at our own 8. All we needed was a field goal…
