What is your IDEAL Non Conference Schedule???

I think Howard knows a little bit better then most of us when it comes to deciding our schedule. Once I win a national championship, I will begin to question his thinking...

What is your IDEAL Non Conference Schedule???

ok well that said…. on saturday after the KState game…we all sounded pretty pissed..me included…when i see the post about Howard i start to wonder….NO DOUBT he is a great coach, and has been there…but times have changed…We are in a state of powerhouses…and though we are known as playing "football in paradise", we are never really home for the NC schedule…and when we travel to the Clemson's or MINN…u see the result…i just wonder if it is time for a new way of thinking. Howard should definitely stay our coach. He coached me, and was a huge part of my experience of course…but i dont forsee a National Championship in our near future…first lets focus on an on campus stadium…getting recruits (not the loose change from UF, FSU and UM) and lets win some games to get the support. When we travelled to Hawaii and beat them…we made news…when we beat North Tex. that year we made news……THAT IS WHAT WE NEED…not a blow out versus a team we CANT compete with. I love FAU, and will always..but we need to be real…Aside from the Payout…i think its time we reevaluate our scheduling philosophy…MAC MAC MAC….thanks for the forum to vent everyone.

Welcome to the board fau82. Vent and rant till your heart's content. That's what it's for.

I'd look at the different angle regarding the UF,UM and FSU rejects. 300+ athletes come through this state yearly. After the Big 3 are done the rest (most don't even stay for USF and UCF) of the players leave the state for other more established programs. How about us keeping some of that talent at home here in Florida?

Winning will get the support.

Well FAU82…Could not disagree with you more. My entire life I have had the philosphy of " If you want to be the man…You've got to beat the man". There is no joy in beating the crap out of weak opponents. Sorry that some people are very fragile and feel that we need to schedule some tomato can teams for an easy win, but I disagree and so would most other winners.

p.s. What do you think Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Lance Armstrong, or Tiger Woods would think?

If your calling MAC teams tomato teams..wake up...look at our sun belt record last yr and our game against FIU....just saying.... its healthy to disagree but i still feel strongly that we need to dream realistically.

As I remember Schnelly took the same approach for Louisville & UM and look how it has worked out for those teams. Yes, the landscape has changed, but we are going through these hard times now for future gains and yes it can be a very painful and fustrating process, for both fans and players, but if we are focus in what we are trying to establish then playing these tough OCC will become irrelavate. What needs to happen during the process however is for us to play competive within our own conference - the winning will come.

I mentioned this earlier, this year will not be about the W's, but how we play in our games - this year we have played two games, during the Clemson ( a very tough and #18 ranked team in the nation) which we played a rather good game with some good positives & KSU which was nothing but a disaster. These players are getting a feel for what it takes to play at that level, even though some of those players are not ready and never will be.

Getting the crap beat out of you never feels good, especially as a player, but I believe they understand the process they are going thru. These games will make them better players quicker. This will be another long year. We need to continue to recruit at the 1A level for another couple of years and then we will have the type of players we need to have the proper depth and level of players we need for our continued success on the field.

We need to trust in the Wise Old Owl on our path to greatness!!

One last thing FAU82…How about me proving to you that FAU is in fact scheduling the right competition?

Think about 1 thing in life you ever really really really wanted that you have not gotten. I bet you I can tell you what it is…
