What is your IDEAL Non Conference Schedule???

What is your IDEAL Non Conference Schedule???

I like playing in-state teams, so my ideal schedule would have one or two of UF, FSU, USF, UCF (and of course FIU) each season. I agree that we need to play the best opponents possible, but it's no fun not to be competitive or not to show improvement. However, each time we play a ranked team is another chance to shock the nation. Just one upset would be remembered for years. We're a young program and need to take as many risks as possible.

In other words, I don't care how much we lose by when we play UF next year. I'm thrilled just to be playing them (and, being a graduate of both, I can't lose ;D). It's one thing to lose to ranked teams, but I hope we're not shutout by a team like Kansas again.

One last thing FAU82…How about me proving to you that FAU is in fact scheduling the right competition?

Think about 1 thing in life you ever really really really wanted that you have not gotten. I bet you I can tell you what it is…

I dont appreciate the personal attack for voicing my opinion..ill choose to be the "bigger man" in this instance and just say that i hope we do well! Go Owls…

The trouble with scheudling MAC and other like teams such as Latech is that even they have their heads in the clouds and consider us low SunBelt non-competition. That is, despite the fact that the SunBelt is just as good or better of a league and that the SunBelt now has better attendance overall.

These teams are basically just as unknown to common football fans as those in our conference and would draw poor crowds. Would FAU fill up Lockhart for a visit by Bowling Green or Ball State? Yawn …

Plus, they are small enough to want to pay FAU very little to visit them. So, there's not much upside (except, possibly, for a win) to playing them.

As for UCF and USF, good luck. They both refuse to play Troy any more despite the beginning of greta rivalries. They want to play their CUSA and Big East schedules and then play up for a couple of games. Maybe, maybe, FAU would have a shot at one of the two each year, as their presumed "cupcake" game. But they might also opt to schedule a I-AA team for that "guaranteed" win, rather than risk a loss playing FAU. And getting them to come to FAU would be difficult, although FAU has already inked USF for a home gamne, which was a major coup.

FAU82…I did not mean to personally attack you. If you took it that way, I sincerely apologize. I was just merely trying to prove a point.

By the way, the answer to the questions is nothing. Anything in life we really really really want we always get. If we do not have it, it is because we probably did not want it bad enough.

With that said…If our guys put their minds to it and want it bad enough, we can beat any team on our schedule. Go Owls!!!
