Recruiting is so important. We're consistently last in the nation. Not much is changing so far this year, even with a new stadium on the horizon.

Granted, we have a 3 star LB and 2 star RB, which is nice to see. Hopefully, as commitments continue to roll in, we can grab a few and actually climb out of the Sun Belt basement.

I think you have to worry about who is compiling the rankings.  We have been over this before.  Listening to Scout and Rivals is like letting me give you financial advice.  We have 3 or 4 NFL quality players as seniors right now…our recruiting isn't bad.

We need a better schedule, instead of playing florida which is a no doubt loss, how about we play say a vanderbilt, baylor, washington state.  If we play bottom feeder bcs teams the likelihood of getting an upset is more realistic. We need to generate wins in ordr to go to bowl games in order to get into a better conference.  The prices are really high.  Who's going to pay a large sum of money to see us struggle against north texas, western kentucky? The inauguration might be a sell out but other than that we might see the same 10,000 people coming to the games…you can blame the marketing.  Time is crucial, we can make these improvements  and reach higher….but its difficult after a season like this we need better coaches that will find better players that will bring more of us fans to games…enough said…..Go owls!

Good post but no paragraphs

FAU’s issue is you need $$ to run all your athletic programs. When you have your stadium you will need 4M per year to pay the annual ‘mortgage’ payment. That amount is not including the $ needed to run a successful athletic department. FAU will need to do that via ticket sales or body bag games.  HS Football rent and concessions will net you very little. (Citrus Sports basically rented the HS championship games for free this year) You can possibly get naming rights but would be lucky to get 250Kper year since UCF’s basketball is still nameless and that was what they were asking for.

In the end if your fanbase wants a new stadium your fanbase will have to pay for it or play games with no return. The vanderbilt, baylor, washington state of college football will not pay the $ you need and EVERY non-BCS school wants to play BCS schools they can beat.  To get the big $ you have to play the schools who sell 65K+ tickets bc they need to gross more then 2X what they pay the opponent.   College football is all about the $$$, you need it to increase recruiting, to increase facilities, and to recruit good coaches.

Here is USA Today with Programs Revenues and Expenses, FAU needs more revenue bc your expense is going up with new stadium.

Re: What should FAU's goals be for the next 5 years??

Excellent post and those are the points I have been making as well. Continue our now three year downward "trend" of fewer wins each year of 7,6,5,4… and we will have 20,000 plus empty seats by the end of the stadiums FIRST year! See how that sinks revenues and ANY interest in naming rights, advertising dollrs, donations…

With seemingly no or even a backwards direction to the program, that will just not cut it. We could afford to continue to put out a bad product in Lockhart, little expenses. But now with the on-campus stadium and accompanying mortgage - no way!

President Saunders and Mr. Angelos, please hire a Coach in waiting for one year to regain energy and coaching ability to the program. Build a statue and name the field for Coach S. but tell recruits and fans FAU is going to stop this negative "trend" NOW (not an aberation - over three years guys) and move the program and the school forward NOW!

I am sorry you are a dead a wrong like anything else the star system isn't 100 percent but there is a reason why USF  is better then us they get  a lot of 3 star guys and some 4 while we get a lot of 2 and a couple 3 starts guys it is the same reason why UF is better then USF UF gets a lot of 4 star guys and some 5's stars matter just go look at rivals recruiting rankings and it is about where they are ranked in the country.
We have really laked the last couple of years in recruiting thus why we have not won as many games.
