Who Let The Owls Out????

Football = Blue
Basketball = Red

Did anyone notice we had on Blue jerseys. We don't have red jerseys.

Five years ago, the athletic department and student government teamed up to launch REAL FANS WEAR RED. We are the only school in the state on a Div. 1-A level that has red in our uniforms. FIU and Florida have Blue. That's why we didn't chose blue.

Moreover, the alumni and advancement office tried to launch True Fans Wear Blue. That failed a year later. It couldn't compete with the red. Now, we have REAL FANS WEAR RED, Bury the Burrow IN RED, the RED ZONE, etc.

RED is the color for FAU fans to wear. It's been marketed that way for five years.

That's all true. However, recently Schnellenberger has been saying blue for football, red for basketball. Apparently he prefers blue. That's why the Shovel Movement became the Blue Shovel Movement. However, this idea hasn't quite trickled down to the students just yet and personally I don't think they're going to take it well – FAU cannot build traditions by switching the rules all the time.

We can't have different color for different sports. For the Hurricanes it's orange and green all the time. For the Gators it's blue and orange all the time. Hell, for FIU, it's blue and yellow all the time.

For FAU, although we don't have two colors that dominate our athletic sphere, I think it's more intimidating to have EVERYONE in RED. Red is the color of blood and tear shed. Blue is the color of water and happiness. As an opposing player, I rather look and see a lot of blue than a lot of red. That's another reason why REAL FANS WEAR RED and we should all be wearing red at the games.

Ugh, this thing is a complete mess.

Red, blue or white, as long as it has FAU on it somewhere, I don't care what people wear honestly, as long as they show up…unless, like on Saturday, we're playing a team that is predominantly red or blue, then we just wear the opposite color.

Miami asked their fans on Saturday to wear orange, as they were playing Marshall, whose primary color is obviously green.

To me, blue has always been the primary color at FAU since the beginning, so, even though we've changed the shade over the years, blue should be our main color. And forget this crap about different colors for different sports….that's ridiculous.

No one else in the state has our red/blue combination, so that's all that really matters.

The original school colors that date back to the middle ages when I was there are blue and silver. I don't know when red was added. Blue has always been the primary color. I never see silver used for anything.

.

That's where you are wrong, there alot a lot of teams that use one of their primary colors for Basketball and one for Football. It is obvious that red is the color of basketball and it's coach who prefers Blue for football so I think it's you who is being ridiculous.

GO OWLS!

If I'm being so ridiculous, then please enlighten us about a school that asks its fans to wear one color for football and one for basketball.
