FIU has a handful more  non-binding "oral commitments' that the ones that are known and listed by rivals and scout sites.  It's not FIU coaches talking about it (or any other school btw), since they are not allowed by the NCAA to mention or talk about kids and/or the names they are recruiting.

BTW, I remember reading Howard S. saying after last season something like it was a totally different recruiting landscape and he was considering (or having to change) recruiting strategies.  For whatever it's worth, I've seen a lot more recruits holding FAU offers early on…much more so than last season.   I'm sure FAU has some commitments already.  It's just that neither rivals.com, nor scout.com, nor the local newspapers have reported one commitment to FAU on their sites.

Exactly…

These sites, IMO, are leaches in most coaches eyes…they give nothing back to the school, but expect "preferred" treatment…they get thier "info" from speaking to recruits directly…during their "evaluation" period.

With regards to FAU, they are always on the outside. HS doesn't leak…dunno if that is what he is referring to in the above mention, but probably so…

Case in point:

How "right" has any site been regarding our signees the last few years…unless given information from FAU directly - not very.

Good news:

The Owl's Nest Hopes to change that soon.

We only have a few real fine cheerleaders…..the dance team on the other hand… ;D

Yes! The DT is what it's all about

Our dance team isn't all the great. We have two, maybe three really attractive girls, the rest are just OK. I know I hate FIU, but their dance team blows our dance team out of the water, hands down. I know I'll probably get flamed for saying that, but its true

Yep.  Speaking directly to recruits is the way they do it for the most part…not through the coaches directly, as…again…it is against NCAA rules.  Of course, there might be some leaks, but I suspect that doesn't help the cause of both our teams.

For schools such as FIU (and FAU from what it seems as well), I know coaches want to keep it as close to the vest as possible, especially with players that are thought to be getting interest/offers from so called "bigger" schools.  However, these sites have many other ways…their HS coaches, relatives, teammates, and most importantly, the players themselves, to find out information, and not even coaches with the stature of Howard S. can "stop" these recruiting services…and/or local newspapers…from doing their job.  Actually, I've found out there are many HS players that are more than accomodating to these services in telling them their recruiting situation.

BTW, I do find the FAU dancers to be very attractive and fine as well…of course, I also find it that way with the Dazzlers of FIU… ;)
