"Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson said that Boise State Athletic Director Mark Coyle was at the league's meetings this week in Arizona. He said there is room for Boise State and San Diego State if the teams decide not to move their football programs to the Big East. "I think there is room at the table. I don't want to get into a hypothetical answer. Yes, 10 members is two short of a conference championship game (in football)," Thompson said.

pretty much, the MWC will not allow any school to become a member in all sports until their football program participates in the conference as well.

So there's still a slim chance that Boise and SD State can say ok we'll join the MWC and not the big east. It's better for travel purposes for those schools as well. If that happens there's 2 slots open in the big east. Not saying we'd get Big East, but if they take two teams from C-USA, then maybe C-USA look to us. That is, if we have our sh*t together by then

And then there's also this……..

An ODU spokeswoman told CBSSports.com Thursday afternoon the school would not be holding a press conference Friday related to its conference future. On Tuesday, the school released the following statement about their conference future:

"Recent reports of conference realignment across the country have heightened our attention to focus on one of the primary goals of our intercollegiate athletic strategic plan, which is to continually assess the changing landscape of Division I athletics," the statement said.

"One of the primary roles of our athletic director, Dr. Wood Selig, is to understand and analyze the changing landscape and to position the University and its athletic programs for future success. Any decision regarding conference affiliation would require due diligence on the part of the University and athletics.

"There will be no further comments from the University at this time."

So looks like ODU is thinking about not going to C-USA. This is where not having an AD is going to kill us. We should be on the phone with C-USA right now. We need to be that know it all nerdy kid in class "oooh pick me pick me!!!"

ODU reconsidering CUSA option

Well, M Dawson has gotten us a 3 game series with Miami and Jarvis's contract done…maybe she can just take care of this and become the best interem AD of all time  ;D

if Melissa gets this done for us, I think we need to talk to the powers that be and remove the interim tag

CUSA gets any weaker than who cares!

A university affiliation with C USA is much better than the Belt. If there is still an opening somehow we need to put on the full court press immediately.

I'd just like to clear a few things up here…


The reason that we are moving on to C-USA has a lot to do with our AD. He is FORWARD thinking and he always wanted to move up (whether you guys believe C-USA sucks or not) He has made the right moves and positioned himself to make this move.

1. He eliminated bodybag games. He knew that the paycheck in the end was not worth it. The losses are demoralizing and having 2-3 guaranteed losses will come back to haunt you.
2. He only signed 1 for 1 deals. That's why we played UCF at home and Louisville at home this year. Those are winnable games.
3. With the exception of Thomas, he's picked young up-and-comers - Cristobal, Turtle, Pitino, Arena.

You guys were stuck with someone who was not as ambitious and didn't really stick his neck out to get what he wanted.

Your stadium is beautiful and I commend you for that, but our is adequate and will expand over time. Also, it is pretty lame for a school who has never averaged 20K in attendance to rag on a school for their attendance numbers. The attendance has been around the same for both schools throughout their lifetimes. Neither school has the "upper hand" in attendance. No one goes to UM games and they have 5 National Championships. Anyways, I hope that we continue our yearly games as it makes it an extra "home" game for either school

I say screw CUSA (AND FIU and NT!) and let's get on with now making the Belt BETTER than CUSA. Add in Ap. St. AND Ga. Southern to get to twelve and get on with the games! If we do this, I would definately put our new members up against ANYTHING CUSA has aded! The gap is small now guys!

TV Market.

That's it.

It has nothing to do with AD, ours was talking with them just as much initially. What caught the eye is TV Market, and the dollars they would be able to get back.

All the other stuff is great, but they obviously were not interested in facilities, as FAU's are better across the board.

It has nothing to do with wins, we have the advantage in football hands down, and men's basketball as well - the only two true revenue sports.

Scheduling is mute, because, again, your records in the two sports that count are not equal.

Not trying to rain on the parade, congrats that you reside in Miami, and could get the deal done by pulling from that factor!

Your football is great, but it is the only example where one of your stadiums in vastly superior.



Yeah the TV market thing had a lot to do with it, but Palm Beach/Broward is nothing to scoff at. Not to mention that C-USA has taken many teams in the past decade with crappy TV markets. In any case good luck in the 'Belt and we will see you in Boca later this year.
