I am not going to debate with you wise owl. I don't see what you saw "Throw in the dirt"  Once Van Camp gets in leave the first string in as well, don't bring in the 2 stringers like before.  You must have never played a sport other than high school.  He was recruited for something. Give the man a chance. What the hell is wrong with you.  Competition is good for the team.

Lighten up Francis…no one is debating…and nothing is wrong with me ;)

Have you seen the times VC has been in the game?  That's what i am refering to…

VC is a very similair player to that of Clayton IMO…

I just dont see him as an accurate passer…but he can run pretty well…

He is trying to drill every pass in there and frequently into double and triple coverage. The whole team has looked bad, but Rusty has looked pathetic. He has it in him to be a very competent QB. I just do not understand what happened between last year in NO and this year in beginning in the second half at Texas. He was on fire in the first half at Texas and suddenly he has disappeared. A real head scratcher.

I think last year we saw better route running and hands from the receivers and Harmon.  It also seems like the line is not giving the same time for Rusty as last year.

If I remember it was said that in Texas he hurt his shoulder and that's one of the main reasons he was pulled from the game. Is it possible that, that is still the problem and he's playing through it or he's not telling anyone? I just don't understand. He has more INT's the TD's so far this season. He came out strong against Texas and then that was it after that he's looked average at best. He's rolling out to much he's got a good arm find someone open and throw it don't roll out on every play. It doesn't help your confidence when every pass you throw to open receivers is dropped. I know Bonner dropped one in the end zone against Minni.

He should have been able to torch that MTSU D last night, our D played well enough to give us a chance to win but Rusty just wasn't in the game it seemed like he's trying to hard to do good instead of just going out there and having fun.

I've heard the Nick Paris excuse too about how he will be better with Paris under center. He wants to be a pro qb he should learn how to play through his O line being injured because it will happen in the pros

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

I will have to say that I somewhat agree with you Jab979. Although I don't think it's time for Rusty to be benched, I do say it's time to get back to the basics. He acts as he's shell shocked. I see him blowing up the fundementals of QBacking, throwing off the back foot, not stepping up in the pocket to throw the ball, throwing into double coverage etc.. If this team is to get back to last years playing ability, he will have to regain his form from last year. Hopefully he can forget about last years accolades and his head should be deflated by now as he has totally stunk up the place this year. The good thing about his problem is, it's from the neck up and if he has any real coaching, he should be able to rebound. The bad part is, he has to do it now. After this week, if he and the team don't turn this ship around and win, the storyline next week will be simply, wait until next year.

I think he is still hurt - would explain alot of what we are seeing.

Look, you took Harmon away…that's enough in itself…his FAVORITE target…now you take away his leader on the OL - one he relies on to call plays for the OL, and BY FAR our best Center…and look what happened at MSU.

This is not even a remotely fair or accurate statement.

It's the same thing as when we lost Pinnick…and what that meant for the DL, and then some.

Re: Will the real Rusty Smity please stand up...

I think my comments are more than fair. His mechanics are horrible! The loss of Harmon was a loss but the two TE's that replaced him are doing just as well as he did and Paris being out has nothing to do with his throwing off his back foot or his not stepping up in the pocket or his making bad decisions. Face it, he's regressed. He's not the QB of 07. The question is why? Is he hurt? Is it mental? Was last year a fluke?  Did he start believing the press clippings touting his being a 1st round draft choice? Once the question(s) surrounding his 08 performance are answered and people stop pampering this situation, maybe he will right his ship. He's not beyond reproach. I'm an FAU fan, not just a Rusty fan.
