FYI Georgia Southern has been playing football since 1981. They were in FCS for over 30 years. We never developed the deep FCS roots they did. Georgia Southern spent decades developing a following and a program.

AND won how many FCS National Titles (like App. State). Those two DOMINATED the FCS for a DECADE!voss749 said

That is why moving up to the FBS (SunBelt) not a big deal to them, pretty decent teams already, we wish we had half of their starters!
WE need more players form Georgia, WAY TOO MUCH talent to allow WKU, MTSU, UAB not to mention Troy, Ga. St., Ga. Southern, App St., S. Bama to fill their rosters (and recruit from Florida too)! And every recruit from Ga we get weakens their recruiting class!
And don't give me this we can't afford to crap, if WKU can (and they must!) recruit out of state than WE CAN TOO!
Even FCS STETSON just offers 7 players from my COUNTY up here in North Georgia LAST WEEK!

OTHER SCHOOLS recruit more NATIONALLY because they have to. We are again choosing for the Florida only HS recruits largely and we are regressing AGAIN!
The top HS recruits are either signing with Power 5 or out of state mid levels. We are splitting the remainders with FIU, UCF, USF. We are SEVERELY LIMITING our talent base with this present and OLD FASHIONED emphasis on recruiting S. Florida almost exclusively. And to KNOW you are losing not one but BOTH nearly NFL caliber DT's AND NOT fill the gap NOW with JUCO talent, well…..we can't stop a HS team guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Howard insisted on staying with local HS recruits and now we are doing almost the same. Like the last 6 qtrs. of "football" guys???? Like the struggle with an FCS team with 20 less schollys AT HOME guys????? Oh, I forgot, we couldn't stop them EITHER! Like has been posted, we might not stop St. Thomas…………
WAKE UP FAU ADMINS……WE ARE HEADED THE WRONG WAY AGAIN. I really hope and pray we all man up and beat ball St. at home and turn this around, do it FAU!

And we are getting ONLY the leftover HS recruits. the reason for some success in the past few years were the JUCO recruits. Look at who is left in the NFL, other than Alfred, Cre'von and Keith, two JUCOS. We have recruited HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of HS players and only maybe 20 or so JUCOS and yet 2 of 5 in the NFL were JUCOS! That is less than 1% of HS, and 10% of JUCOS.

I'm sorry but this is absurd. Florida has the most talent in the Country. Colleges across the country all come to Florida to recruit. If we can't recruit down here we will never win.
To bad we let Lamar Jackson leave the area. Crazy he was just a 3*
