He can throw for all the yards he wants, bottomline, he's not winning ball games. All I see, is this steaming hot pile if garbage we call FAU football. I don't know about you guys but I'm SICK AND TIRED of watching this team get wrecked week after week. I'm seriously questioning my fanhood and if it's even worth watching this painful display of pansy ball. I'm starting to think that maybe we're gonna be in the company UAB and Tulane for years to come. Thanks a lot "Voice". We went from one of the hottest up and coming programs in the nation to complete garbage because of your "recruiting". You went out and deliberatly focused on one thing, the stadium that will never get filled after '08s bowl win. As a result, you put a D-III product on the field!

It was his opinion, which he is entitled to.

But we have since beat WKU away (bowl eligble), Troy 5-5 (needing one more win to be bowl elibible) and lost by 7 at Navy (bowl eligible). Two other loses were also away to the #4 and #5 BCS ranked teams who are both in the SEC Championship game. And losses away to MTSUand ULM (BOTH bowl eligible). The two losses to N. Texas and S. Bama both could have neen won and were lost by a COMBINED 9 points. And Our strength of schedule this year is pretty good too, having played 7 bowl eligible teams already this year and even Wagner has now won 7 straight and are in 1st in their FCS conference!

We are only 3-7 but could have been 6-4 now. Not a bad 1st season so far for Coach P. If we continue to improve over the final two games and recruit well and add in our recruits from this year whom were either not eligible or redshirted we look pretty damn good for next year. Especially with a MUCH easier OOC schedule to boot! Go Owls!

Yep. Just one of those nights hangin out with my buddy Jack Daniels a little too much. Can't be mad at the progress that has been made. I'll admit I jumped the gun a little too soon. Just beat FIU and this season can go down as a solid one!

Many should be apologizing. I for one gave Wilbert the benefit of the doubt. Same as Rusty years ago. There is something to be said for gaining a year of experience. A college QB can really mature from year one as a starter to year two.

Imagine if Wilbert was in the same system last year. Certainly some of his early struggles this year had to do with the new system.

GO OWLS!!!

Pelini had to go the JUCO rout for a lot of his recruits because the main recruiting period was already over by the time he got the job. In Washington State's 2nd game of the season (their home opener) they only put up 24 points in a 24-20 win over Eastern Washington.

So we may have only scored 7, but only allowed 3. They scored 24 but allowed 20. So Mike Leach isn't the be all to end all of College Coaches. Who knows if he would've done a better job than Pelini has so far.

That's like saying Will Smith (who turned down the role), would've done a better job in the Matrix movies than Keanu Reeves. They each have a different style and people will always second guess a decision. I'm sure no one can picture Will Smith in that role, but what if it was the other way around and Keanu turned it down and Smith got the job. Would anyone say, those movies were good, but if Keanu Reeves played that part instead they would've been excellent?

Perhaps Pelini did go the Juco route because he came in too late. But then why is he doing it again this year. I have no problem going to Juco for a couple of obvious holes, but when you focus primarily on Jucos, you could be turning away potential younger talent. Talent that could play for FAU for more than just a year or two…especially at key positions of continuity like QB. Need the younger talent to build the future too. That's the problem I have with German, why was he the only QB we inked? Should have done a high school kid too.

As far as the Will Smith vs. Keanu Reeves…no contest. The Matrix series is great, but I loved Will smith in "I am Legend." So I feel that he could have made the Matrix movies even better. Of course it's subjective, but interesting discussion  :P

JUCO route is working reasonably well for Bill Snyder at Kansas State.

Man, I love the passion…but you guys are talking out of your rectum. Howard the worst thing that could have happened to FAU? I'll hold you to that when in 3 years we go 10-2 and give Miami a run for their money at home…avg 18,000 a game…and go to the Independence Bowl…

I'm just saying…D1 programs are like aircraft carriers…it takes awhile to turn them around….
Keeping Howard for the extra two years is the worst decision this program as made in our history it is simple also to show how little you know is how in the hell can we play in the independence bowl in which the Belt has no tie your just pulling bowls out of your a**. That bowl had Mizzu and UNC in it last year the Belts has like a one percent chance at an at large in that bowl.

One thing that people forget about Howard, if he doesn't stay those extra two years … there is no Stadium.  We would still be bitching about the lack of fundraising  and when the dirt would start moving.

IMHO, Howard made some bad decision with some of the coaches he either brought in or promoted and he knew it, but guess what he accepted and lived with those mistakes.  It happens, you takes some chances and sometimes you get burned.

Part of those two down year, Howard carried a huge weigh on his shoulders … coaching, recruiting and help fundraising for the stadium, which should not have been his responsibility.  People where hired to do just that …

Recruiting was becoming harder and harder the longer we played at Lockhart.  Then you add the promises to the recruits that they would be playing in a new stadium, while playing at a crappy high school field not even in the same county  the main campus was in …. something had to be done, Howard knew this and made the sacrifices for it and paid a huge price in the process.  I'm sure he would have wanted to end his career on a higher note, especially opening the stadium something he work very hard to make sure happen.

Lockhart serviced it purpose for way to long …. not only did it hurt recruiting efforts, but how do you bring possible boosters asking for $$$ at a crappy facilities called Lockhart …. that place was an embarrassment and hindered fundraising efforts as well.

All that is history … we need to move forward.

CP is here and seems to have the players drinking and enjoying his brand of cool-aid and the results are showing on the field.  At this point last year, this team had no fight left.  As of today, they continue to improve, show poise and seem determined to want to win.  They still have work to do, but I like what I see from this team.  It will make for a fun off-season to see what next season will bring.  There will still be a nice influx of youth, but at least there will be some of the current players (new leaders) to lead them this time around.

Re: You could only imagine what Mike Leach would of said about our team....

Good post.

The victory of building that stadium was greater than ANY victories we could have had HS's last 2 seasons.

That stadium gives us credibility and a foundation to build a LEGITAMATE football team and program for years to come.

Next season when we have a competitive year and are in every game and the fan base starts getting strong and recruiting keeps getting better maybe people will start to understand.

Funny to me that people think HS cared more about a 7-5 SunBelt season after all his years of coaching and undefeated seasons than he would leaving the program with a stadium that would change the entire face of the program and the university.  I hate to call people idiots, but not seeing that makes you pretty stupid.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.
