Balado: Jarvis a "Good Guy"

To all of you Balado supporters that have done nothing but try to assasinate Jarvis' character…

Assistant coach Mike Balado, who interviewed for the head coaching position, would like to be considered for a position on Jarvis' staff.

"If it's coach Jarvis, that's great because he's a good guy," Balado said. "I hope I get a chance to talk to him face-to-face."

Do you think Balado would want to work for someone who is a liar, cheat, and program killer?

A lot of other good stuff in the article, but the Balado quote stood out.  Hopefully he gets to stay on staff, but if not, I hope all of you Balado supporters who care so passionately about FAU basketball give Jarvis a chance and continue to support the program.

Re: Balado: Jarvis a "Good Guy"

Time will tell if Jarvis was a good hire.

And I would hope that Jarvis gives Balado a chance and I think he will since he does have an in with the current recruits.  And it would give Balado to continue to pad his resume to one date get a head coaching job.

We need him to stay 3-4 years, it will do us not good if he bolts after 2.

Re: Balado: Jarvis a "Good Guy"

I think retaining Balado would be a benefit for both parties. Balado would get a chance to be an assistant under an established head coach and Jarvis needs his connection to the current players and recruits. If he stays on during Jarvis' four year deal and Jarvis decides to step away at that time, Balado would then have much more experience and a better resume, making him a more viable candidate to take over this program. Assuming, of course, that the MJ era is successful. Or Balado can use that experience and get a head job elsewhere, but the point is being a Jarvis assistant would be a huge boost compared to being Rex Walters' assistant.

Going to step out on a limb here and go on record:

Balado will remain.

;)

To agree with the above thoughts, even if for one to two years, it would be ill advised for either party not to "merge" the current staff…he offers lot to Jarvis for continuity sakes - as already mentioned…and he gains alot for his own career goal of becoming a head coach by sitting under Jarvis - the most accredited Coach he would have on his resume.

No brainer…

Re: Balado: Jarvis a "Good Guy"

I hope Balado does stay on as a coach. While Jarvis has a lot of ties to the North East, Balado is very active down here and it could be a good mix. I like Balado and I think FAU comes out a winner here if they can keep Balado and get Jarvis who I believe will have success with FAU

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: Balado: Jarvis a "Good Guy"

It is pretty clear from Balado's comments that he is ready to accept a position from new HC Jarvis.  i for one, hope that happens.  The economics of the situation pretty much dictates that Jarvis may not be able to bring anyone in that has a "resume".  I suspect that HC MJ will get a bump compared to MD & RW, which will deplete the coffers unless some formerly reticent group of boosters steps up.  Overall I think it looks good for Balado and very good gor FAU, particularly if Jarvis can hold the players currently on roster.

Re: Balado: Jarvis a "Good Guy"

I think it would be wise for Jarvis to give Balabo a chance on many levels and it would give Balado another chance to learn & build on his experience so that one day he can get his chance as a head coach, I just don't think he is ready to be a Head coach for DI program just yet.

Yet, Jarvis will have to determine that and how he might fit within his system.
