What's going on with this team?
Yeah, I'd also like some answers. This is getting ridiculous.
Wonder if somebody in the media can get us some.
We're not "media" but here's the answers FWIW:
Taylor wanted to realize his dream of playing professionally. Was ready to leave last year, and decided to come back for his junior year.
White graduated and is finished with college ball. Just as Ryan Wischnefski left the football team when graduating while having a year of eligibility left, but nobody made a stink about that.
Grier has a dad that is heavily involved in his life and wants his son to see more playing time.
Mavin wavered on this for some time, going back and forth, and finally decided he wanted to see more time as well.
It has nothing to do with Jarvis. He was merely the conduit of standards set, and not everyone can meet them.
On a side note:
Looking forward to the new crew next year!
Apparently the new crew is full of size and athleticism, which is what comprises basketball at its core. So, we should be in great shape.

I get Taylor leaving.
I was happy about White; however, you said he's finished with college ball but TampaBay.com reported three days ago that "USF visitor: Kore White, a 6-foot-8, 245-pound power forward who would be a graduate transfer from Florida Atlantic, will visit this weekend."
I thought Grier would get more playing time this year. I understand when you're a father and you want your son to be in the NBA and you're frustrated thinking he'll never get to the NBA if the coach will barely play him.
Mavin and Grier were reportedly work-out buddies… wondering if they started chatting and decided upon this together since their "announcements" were pretty close together…
My concern is obviously reputation and recruiting.

He'll have to sit a full year if he goes to a DI school…you get five to do four as an undergrad, but word was that he was done when leaving the FAU roster.
Of course he could sit the year as a grad student then play the following year, if that is what he wants to do.
Maybe the young man has decided to get his masters and somehow incorporate basketball into the picture over the next two years as well.
Best wishes to him.
As far as reputation and recruiting go, the stats speak for themselves. Everyone had a chance to do great things here.
White finished with a 7.7 ppg average in 2011-12, and a 42.4% FG showing as a forward.
Mavin was 5.0 ppg, with a 38.9% FG as a guard who got most of his points at the rim.
Taylor was 33.3% from the floor and 28.9% from Three, in 142 attempts (2nd most tries on the team behind Gantt).
Grier was the most efficient, with a 40.8% effort from long range. If he would have stayed, he had the most promise out the the bunch, IMO.

White, Taylor, Grier, Mavin…..NEXT.
Is that supposed to mean that none of this phased you?
I think he is holding the team to a higher standard now and those that don't buy in (or fit in) are kindly shown the door. I think last season frustrated him and he has made it clear that the same sh*t that flew last season isn't going to fly this season and if they don't like it, they will be given their release.
My biggest criticism of Coach J is his public berating of players that aren't producing. I believe that type of stuff needs to stay in the locker room. It's his way of trying to instill motivation in his players but I think it's safe to say it didn't work last season.

+1…it concerns me that he was not able to motivate and control his players and inspire thier them.
Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

But seriously, I hope Coach can pull off another MTSU who brought in eight (8) new players to their roster this season and they did pretty good!
