I don't believe that he is simply using us to get his name out there. Where else is he going to go and get a head coaching job? I don't think there are many left. Recruiting is in full swing and early signing is coming up this coming week I believe. So hopefully we are his best choice should he want to coach this year.

THIS IS THE BEST NEWS IN FAU SPORTS SINCE THE MOVE TO 1A.

DONORS WILL MAKE UP THE SALARY DIFFERENCE TO GET THIS GUY.

THIS WOULD BE SICK…… THIS GUY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR PROGRAM FROM THE DAY HE TAKES THAT WHISTLE.

this is f'en great. angelos is reading the board. he knows price isn't going to do anything at FAU. People will make up the difference for this guys salary in donations.

Angelos, you up the guys salary to 141,000 because you have a thousand dollar donation from me if you hire doherty.
email the info [email protected]

Were going to be all over sport center, werre going to win 20 plus games next year and were going to have a sick recruiting class.

what recruits just won the national championship? matt doherty's.

it will easily be the second greatest moment in the basketball's program next to making it the NCAA's.

Angelos is player, he passed up BYU to stay with us and he's making it happen.

any idea on when we'll find out? This would be an amazing hire!!! His rep took a bad hit, when he was kicked out of UNC (I think the players had a coup)-makes him more affordable so I think this hire could happen.

I wonder if the boosters are working really, really hard behind the scene.. ;) Supposedly a major active football booster/donor is involved. It's common knowledge that the entire university will greatly benefit from this type of high profile hiring. Unconfirmed RUMOR reports say it's his job to refuse! Hopefully it'll hit by Monday or early next week! ;D ;D ;D

Where are you Ted Hutton?!? Spill it…. :D

Of course it's Doherty's job to refuse. As the biggest name FAU brought in, why wouldn't it be. They would love for his to take it – at a substantially lower salary than is being offered, of course.

By the way, it's also Pat Riley's job to refuse and Phil Jackson's too.

Candidate pulls out of FAU coach search

By Marcus Nelson
Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Friday, April 15, 2005

BOCA RATON ? As the search for Florida Atlantic's next basketball coach entered its 47th day, at least one candidate has decided he no longer can wait.

Georgia Southern coach Jeff Price withdrew his name from consideration for the job Thursday.

"Its been a long process and I appreciate the chance to speak to Florida Atlantic, but at this time I feel like all my efforts need to be focused on my program at Georgia Southern," Price said from Statesboro, Ga.

Price, one of the few candidates the Owls interviewed who wasn't an assistant coach or out of coaching, was affected as the search continued into the late recruiting period, which began Wednesday.

FAU is believed to be close to hiring a coach to replace Sidney Green, but Athletic Director Craig Angleos did not return a phone message seeking comment Thursday.

FAU interviewed former North Carolina coach Matt Doherty and former Brigham Young coach Roger Reid on Wednesday. Norfolk State coach Dwight Freeman interviewed this week.

I'm sure Jeff Price is a good coach, but I'm glad he's out of the running. This program needs a buzz that only Doherty and to a lesser extent a major college assistant can provide. Doherty is a must hire in my opinion. I hope we hear something today.
