Re: ESPN: "Jarvis set to take over at FAU"

I said the recruits were going to leave which already two of them have. The nucleus is still there and you may also miss Sanchez for a while. I'm not saying Jarvis will leave after a year but what I am saying is that this is the year to go to the tournament. Not next year or the year after, it's just not going to happen. We don't have enough returning players. If you are involved in the basketball world Mike Jarvis is a name you do not want to be in the same category as. But it seems that most of you on this board do not care about the integrity of the man who is at the helm of your program but you want to win for a year. And trust me that Rex was not the nicest guy or best all around coach but he did not have one violation or any problems academically unlike baseball and football.

Sorry I forgot to put this in my last post but I do not have any media examples, only my experience with working camps with those players. Not to mention meeting Jarvis all those years back.

Re: ESPN: "Jarvis set to take over at FAU"

so the way I see it, we have Sutton at 5, Los at 4, ? at 3, PG at 2 and Nwoji at 1.  If Sanchez/Perkins combo is still here, we have the answer for the 3.  If Pena honors his LOI, he could step in as well.  Sanchez spots PG, Shavon (LOI?) spots Nwoji, (hopefully, Royster spots both Sutton and Los, and we go with an 8 man rotation until whoever is left proves they belong on the court.  I would take this group in a heartbeat.

With the group above, all we need is practice players for this year, but a gangster recruiting year for 2009-10, since we will lose 3 great starters.  If Jarvis is as good at getting tough city kids out of the NY area, he might be able to hold the line in recruiting.  If not, you are correct, sir, it might be a 1 year dynasty. :'(

I know its frustrating but they just created more red tape with this BOT approval of employment contracts. I'm sure the BOT could expedite this and get it done faster but I am more than sure they don't don't to let it seem like they can be told what to do so they'll schedule a meeting when their ready. Its a power thing.

i only knew about Hall…not anyone else…so, that is news…

i dont know about this year though honestly…i understand what you are sayiong about losing PG and Los, but i kind of figured that Sutton and pena would offset that for the following year…didnt see gaining ground UNLESS we retained Riley…then thought they could be VERY good in 09-10…

guess we shall wait and see what happens - if they will play for Jarvis, or rquest thier letters be removed…which FAU will certainly honor if that is the case…no sense in going any other way fi someone doesnt want to come here…

i understand why you may feel the way you about Jarvis' character given things that have been "associated" with his name, but i think we should all give the man a chance…for the respect of others i will not go into religion, but i will say the man you see now, is not the same man then…

i think we should all be careful to examine a speck in the eyes of others, lest we forget we ourselves are not perfect either…and i mean this in a general sense to all of us…

lets give him a chance?

I understand what you are saying and I believe that people should be given a second chance. However when you just mess up with every NCAA rule and you were not a young coach at the time, why should you get a second chance? It's not fair to the coaches who have not messed up. Rex took this big guy from Cali who came in on a visit (here) with him to San Fran. Angelo Caloiaro. Lets also not forget that Jarvis didn't win with just his recruits, he lost with Fran Fraschilla's.

yeah, i heard of him…sorry, i wasnt even considering him a recruit…not that this means "alot", but the guy didnt get any other offers…just had some walk on offers to lesser prgrams…i know rex sees what he sees in players, and i respect that…i just like to see other interest besides walk on offers…

Jarvis is lucky to be where he is…no one would touch him with a 10 foot poll two years ago…the last couple years he had a bad run - BAD…not hiding that…

somehow, i still believ he has gas int he tank - much like Howard after that HORRIBLE year at OU…

HS got a second chance…MJ very well could be out hardwood version of HS :)
