I understand what you are saying and I believe that people should be given a second chance. However when you just mess up with every NCAA rule and you were not a young coach at the time, why should you get a second chance? It's not fair to the coaches who have not messed up. Rex took this big guy from Cali who came in on a visit (here) with him to San Fran. Angelo Caloiaro. Lets also not forget that Jarvis didn't win with just his recruits, he lost with Fran Fraschilla's.
I highly doubt that Jarvis broke every NCAA rule….they have so many, who would have the time?? ;D
Seriously, he has made mistakes. He paid a big price. Give the man a second chance. We can debate all day about what was and wasn't true about the allegations against him, but the bottom line is that he has served his time. Many coaches have made much bigger "mistakes" and never paid anywhere near the price Jarvis has.
The bottom line is the guy is an excellent basketball coach and if we can finally get this contract worked out, we'll be lucky to have him. FAU doesn't get a coach of his pedigree if there was not a blemish on his resume. Is it fair to "coaches who haven't messed up"? Maybe not, but is every coach who ever "messes up" never going to get another shot? If that was the case, Coach Schnellenberger would not be here today. When he left Oklahoma, he was in a similar position Jarvis is in now. After Oklahoma, he had his name dragged through the mud and couldn't find another job for years. I'm certainly glad we gave him an opportunity to redeem himself. People make mistakes and people deserve second chances….same goes for college coaches.

I heard that recruit was going to have some academic issues anyway.

Jarvis gets offer from Florida Atlantic
Florida Atlantic has offered its coaching job to former St. John’s coach Mike Jarvis. The official announcement should be made after this week’s Sun Belt conference meetings.

Isn't Dick Weiss a friend of Jarvis? I thought he was…at least he's been advocating him getting this(or any) job for a while now.

I have a strong hunch that a lot of these quotes from "an unnamed source" couldactually be coming from Jarvis himself, since he has been pretty overt about his interest in this job from the beginning. Not a bad way to generate buzz about yourself.
The story on Sun Sentinel is documented form sources inside the university i can attest to that…
The others, i dont know…this guy above is a friend of Jarvis'…
