Greg Gantt Named Sun Belt Player of the Week

Greg Gantt, one of the most consistent players in the Sun Belt Conference this season, has been named the SBC Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Owls to a 2-0 record last week.

Gantt averaged 17 points in the two games last week scoring 19 points in the win over FIU and 15 points in the win over North Texas. The win over North Texas snapped the Mean Green's 17-game home winning streak while also giving FAU Head Coach Mike Jarvis his 400th career win.

Gantt was instrumental again in the game against FIU, leading the Owls in scoring and grabbing the key defensive rebound that led to the game-winning basket by teammate Brett Royster.

On the season Gantt ranks fifth overall in the SBC and leads the Owls with a 14.7 points per game scoring average.

Ya, seriously. I might get flamed for saying this…but honestly, I haven't been very impressed with White. Other than the UALR game and a few others, he's been average at best. He isn't really can't post up against anyone and his jump-shooting is extremely streaky. I do thing he's a great defender though. But if our front court next year is White and McCoy then we're in trouble. I'd take Sanchez over White at the moment because Sanchez could create his own shot and shoot jumpshots consistently. I could be wrong, but with all the hype surrounding his arrival, I expected White to be a double-double guy every night and a lock down defender…at the moment he's really just a good defender. Again, just my .02.

You know he's got it in em, he's shown it a few times but damn, when the game counts he shrinks. He's got a few more opportunities to be great this year, prove us wrong Kore

He's been getting double teamed a lot…has to learn to work his way out of that…

He kind if snuck up on folks prior, and went off during that time, so it is to be expected…

Now that I think about it, I do remember seeing him get double teamed alot. I remember at the WKU game that as soon as he touched the ball there was two defenders swarming to him. Probably because they saw what he did to UALR,lol. Either way, he's been pretty non existent the past two games. I trust Jarvis's eye for talent so I have faith he'll turn out just fine.
