I never really got the whole infatuation with Carlos Monroe.  A great player for FAU, but in the big scheme of College Basketball, I thought he was lazy on the court and in the classroom.

I agree that he was lazy off the court and probably wasn't the best character guy either..but he could rebound and you could probably just pencil him in for a double-double every night.

In the A-Sun

The A-Sun is MUCH improved…

royster was only good with opponents that were smaller than him. he wasn't a big man at all. the last big man we had was Newman.

The A-Sun in 2006 was not a good basketball conference.  I dont know about now.  I know Belmont is good.  How about the Campbell Camels?  LOL.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

The Camels!

Had the rattiest gym that held 947 people. Crazy place to play…

Campbell is gone from the ASUN - moved on to the SoCon…but they are pretty solid now.

7-0 at home this year, and 2-0 in conference thus far.

Of course a new $30M facility will do that for you.

He's coached big guys at St. Johns, GW and his other coaching jobs, so it is a wonder why there would be a problem here.

If he can get Dragan anywhere near Yinka Dare status (Shot blocker rebounding beast), we'll be in the tournament the next 2 years….

Hahaha Stinka Yinka

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: Jarvis and "Bigs"

Jarvis did a terrible job with that Patrick Ewing guy!

The thing is, there are probably 10 7 footers in the country that can play coming out of high school every year, that's it. I knew 2 7 footers in high school that dominated and neither of them could play D 1 ball, they tried. It's easy to be good when you're a foot taller than most everyone else but taking that size AND being skilled…they don't grow on trees, a school like FAU has to take risks and try to develop those kids.

Great "Bigs" are difficult to get at any school.  At FAU it is nearly impossible.  I wouldn't consider Royster a great "Big."  He was great for FAU.  I will never be excited about an incoming Big until I see them play.  If we get a great one to commit, he has some kind of baggage.

If you are a great BIG, you are not going to FAU or hundreds of other Universities.  We just need to get a better Big.

agreed,  i think building the program to win in the sunbelt is the most important thing, win, win a lot and the Bigs hopefully will come.
