Looking on to next year....

look at what this program has become? an average sun belt team? yeah we beat miss state and usf, but they were both awful that season. We just finished the season on a 4-game losing streak and blew a 19-point lead against Troy who is 10-17. On top of that, this team was picked to win the conference in the preseason, now were looking at an opening round loss in the tournament. Jarvis is 0-3 in the post season. In terms of recruiting, wasn't Kore White suppose to be the greatest big man to step foot on campus? Hard to buy into these recruits without them playing a game first.

I believe the title of this is "Looking on to next year…." Most of what you stated was from THIS year.

And the White thing is yes-and-no. He was, but he could never live up to expectations at Marshall, so there was speculation he may not live up to expectations here.

What are the chances all three of these recruits are duds?

What did everyone say after last season? Just wait till next year, we return almost everyone. Hard to look forward to next season when this year was suppose to be a big year instead we have beat just 5 teams with winning records. And whats to say that the Baylor kid doesn’t do exactly what White did?

And? Good or bad? I hope to God he plays inside like a big man is supposed to. And for the life of me, if a player IS NOT playing HIS POSITION and taught by the Coach, why is he even on the court? Bench him PERMENANTLY if need be and get rid of him if he refuses to listen and play as instructed!

I have seen him too. But in 23 games at Baylor he only scored 32 points.

He was the youngest of 3 7 footers at Baylor….he didn't have a lot of minutes.  Played pro over seas I think too.

Re: Looking on to next year....

Let's get excited about next season…but not too excited.  We were picked to win the Belt and go to The Big Dance this year.  We finished with a losing record (7 games under .500) and now have to put on the "Cinderella Slippers" as coach says.  I don't expect us to get far in the tournament, but stranger things have happened.

I say get excited about next season but exercise cautious optimism.

Irks me to do this….but I agree.

+1

Jarvis should get next season.  If next season this type of play continues it should be his last.  I like Jarvis as our coach but this year was a huge dissapointment and there wasn't a major injury.  Coach has to take accountability for the shortcomings of this team.  We just blew an 18 point lead at home to Troy and got blown out a few weeks ago by FIU…at HOME.

Also, I agree the team got better under Jarvis but really the wins that people count as notable, I dont.  I think the most notable thing from last year was the spankings in the Belt tourney and NIT.

After this season I am shocked that so many of you want to sign him to a long extension.  Why exactly?

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Re: Looking on to next year....

I agree with Walty's comments above, at some point the coach has to take responsibility for these 2nd half collapses.  The Troy game was ridiculous, a good portion of that is coaching.  Losing to FIU at home?

I know Jarvis was/is the best thing to happen to FAU basketball in a long time but he still has to be held responsible.  We lacked a big man this year that would play as a big man, that should be resolved next year and most of the rest of the team intact.  If we have the same results as this year then what?

GO OWLS!

You mean 11-18?

Then there is a serious problem, and would expect Coach to step up to the plate and take some responsibility.

He is a man of character and there is no question he would do just that.

However, highly doubt we will be seeing this again.
