Men's Hoops Hands Out 2010-11 Team Awards; UM at the Burrow Next Season?

The men's basketball team recently held thier first annual awards banquet on May 1st at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza…here's the list of recipients for the 2010-11 season:

•Defensive Player of the Year: Brett Royster

•Most Improved Award: Jordan McCoy

•MVP: Raymond Taylor

•Newcomer of the Year: Dennis Mavin

•Pastor Dave Nicholas Spirit Award: Head manager Diego Torres

•Scholar-Athlete Award: Justin Davis

•Sixth Man of the Year Award: Alex Tucker

•Unsung Hero Award: Greg Gantt

Jarvis told the crowd on hand that UM could be making a trip to the Burrow next season…the contract has been delivered to the Canes, and they are awaiting a response.

The Pastor Dave Nicholas Award is named after former Spanish River Church founder David Nicholas, who passed away earlier this year.

We are going to need McCoy to win that award again next year to have repeated success.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

if this guy is good, in two years this team could be legit. top 40. ray, gantt, white seniors, mavin or mccoy.

you gotta like that team.

i'm not sold on the team for next year though. still need some big men who can play. the guys coming in for next year are iffy at best from what i've read.

Agree, aside from the shooting guard.

The center played two years, which means he will only have one year of eligibility left after he sits out…

And, not sold on the skills til he arrives and see he can play at this level…

He didn't play much at Baylor and avearged just 1.4 points and 0.8 rebounds in 23 games over two seasons

can't they red-shirt him and then have him for 2 years?

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

The rule is you get five to do four…

I guess they could, but that would mean he would have to continue on in school…most of the team is very solid academically and will graduate in four years

Strange site for this, isn't it? Usually these things are pretty formal.
