The fact is to charge $5 because the "die hard" fans will pay for is exactly the wrong point. You are correct, we will pay for it, but the fact is it is bad business. The most important thing to this team right now, bar none, is putting butts in the seat, PERIOD. If anyone believes that an extra $7K in total parking fees over the entire season is the difference of this team becoming a better product on the court your crazy and you don't understand the big picture.
My suggestion is to cut ticket prices to the bare minimum until certain levels of attendance are achieved and I can guarantee you we are not anywhere near there. This team has potential over the next few years, stop the nickel and dimeing now, get the locals and students involved and in a couple of years you can start to raise ticket prices and nobody will care.
I disagree. Everyone assumes that if you charge less people will show up in droves. That simply isn't the case. As if charging $2 tomorrow is going to fill up the Arena against Warner Southern. Students, our biggest and most captive, fan base are free and it's not as if they are packing the place (although they are showing up in much bigger numbers then ever). Price is not the problem. The ticket prices are reasonable. The problem is a lack of fans. FAU has simply never been successful enough to sell a lot of tickets. Add that to the fact that South Florida in general doesn't care much about college basketball and you get small crowds. UM doesn't draw and they play in the ACC and have a beautiful new arena.
Slashing prices only says to the public "our product isn't worth much." Lowering the price isn't going to sell more tickets. Winning will sell more tickets. The bottom line is that FAU needs to establish itself as a consistent winner in order to have any shot at drawing paying fans. Jarvis is off to a good start and the crowds so far this year have reflected that. If they continue to develop as it looks like they will, the crowds will continue to grow…without cutting ticket prices one penny.

Slashing prices was not my point, my point was that price and product go hand in hand, it is not one or the other it is a delicate balance of the two. My point is to find the balance and in my "opinion" the price of the ticket plus the $5 parking fee is not the correct balance for the product on the floor right now. I believe it is definately moving in the right direction but not currently.
